jkearse123
TRADE ALERT: The Flyers have acquired defenseman Nicklas Grossman from Dallas in exchange for a 2012 2nd round pick, previously acquired from Los Angeles, and a 2013 3rd round pick, previously acquired from Minnesota.https://twitter.com/#!/D_LEED
Digityman
Shoots left. Here's his stats
Vanflyer
A bit expensive for a rental. At least he is relatively young.
flyercanuck
Most people figured he could be had for a 3rd, so Homer threw in a 2nd on top as usual.Decent pickup, slight overpayment.
Bakanekimiwa
FFS... 2nd and 3rd picks!?! crazy. deep draft this year ... great trade for dallas.
jkearse123
More stats:100 blocked shots (T-33 in the league) despite averaging just 19:00 minutes of ice time per gameSolid move for both teams. One of those draft picks is from the Powe trade, and the other is the thrown in 2nd from LAK.
dilbert719
Not bad. I am so much happier with us picking up Grossman over a Hal Gill type. So, the sum total:Flyers give:Mike RichardsRob BordsonDarroll PoweFlyers get:Wayne SimmondsBrayden SchennNiklas GrossmanThat looks pretty darn good to me. The Quigster
Does he speak Russian? Who will he replace? At least the playoffs are a lock, right?
flyercanuck
@He's speaks Latin. He'll replace Briere. Obviously..
Vanflyer
@flyercanuck-Yeah, I was thinking 3rd as well and perhaps an optional 3rd next year if he resigns. A 2nd in a very deep draft AND next years 3rd for a RENTAL is steep to me. Way to go homer- giving those 2nd rounders away like candy on halloween again. One thing is that the guy can hit and clear the front of the net.
Jmdodgesrt4
Everybody has to understand that there aren't many dmen available. Also not many teams are ready to sell. Only a few teams are dead when it comes to the playoffs. Bet there was plenty of other offers. Had to overpay. Prolly a bidding war between pit,Boston, caps and a few other teams
flyercanuck
@Jmdodgesrt4Fair enough. Is this team Nik Grossman away from being a legit cup contender? If not, why waste picks on a rental.
OccamsRazor
A bit expensive for a rental. hf101
@VanflyerI doesn't seem that steep. imo, Holmgren can sign him before FA. Also, not too long ago we gave away a second round pick and Upshall for Carcillo.....so at least we are getting a defenseman who can play, and kill penalties. brelic
@Jmdodgesrt4Fair enough. Is this team Nik Grossman away from being a legit cup contender? It gives you the flexibility to deal away another defenseman in a bigger trade

While this is true, aren't we way overdue to hit on a 2nd rounder (I mean IF we actually used one). Shea Weber was a 2nd rounder, so they're not exactly chopped liver. Shea Weber was a 2nd rounder, so they're not exactly chopped liver.Hey wait i'm in no way saying there aren't any 2nd talent (just ask the Wings), it's just like my Eagles kinda, they can't hit on schitt outside a 1st rounder sometimes, thats all so if were going to waste them i'd rather keep this current roster in tack and trade picks the'd blow anyways. You know how crazy Homer can get gutting a roster, i don't want him going crazy this time. They aint winning it this year anyway the Rags are just to tough and lucky (ie.health)... JackStraw
I can't say I've seen much of him but this seems like a nice move. Sounds like he brings size, defensive ability and a physical presence. And he's young enough (and cheap enough) that re-signing him seems like a possibility. jkearse123
Seeing as Dom Moore, a rental 4th line center, cost a 2nd round pick... I'd say the Flyers made off well
OH1FlyersFan
One thing is that the guy can hit and clear the front of the net.Unfortunately the officials will call him for crosschecking, interference, roughing, and whatever else they can come up with on every hit he makes. Yes now when he is orange refs wont let him do what he did in Dallas anymore.
Flyingswede
I think the price was to hight for him. On the other hand we did pretty good, I dont think we got robbed but we didnt rob Dallas. I think Grossman will be very usefull, when it rains you can pay a little bit more for an umbrella. We need size on the D.
