Howie58
Greetings: It's strange, but this oddsmaker can't accept the Avalanche at (-425). I've never seen the four-handle. https://sportschatplace.com/nhl-picks/2022/03/24/colorado-avalanche-vs-philadelphia-flyers-3-25-22-nhl-picks-predictions-odds/ Odds aside, we don't play well against this team. We're 3-9 over the last 12, 1-4 over the last 5. Add to that back-to-back at 5,000 ft. above sea level. I suspect Hart gets the nod. The audition for next year continues. Well seems they are on a mission to completely fcuk this draft pick up just pick up their first road win of 2022 so knowing there is nothing to play for and Hart in net I am predicting a 3-0 Flyers because they love to fcuk with my head. I hope I am wrong I'd love to get to the 3rd spot from the bottom but he it's the Flyers.
Howie58
The audition thing matters. The guys with expiring contracts or the ones with one foot in the minors want to show something. Yeah--tanking might help, but survival in the big leagues may give some incentive. I think Yeo is facing this too--even if the Flyers say goodbye, he wants to show improvement. Nine PM isn't too bad a start. 10 is a little late, and staying awake for this Flyers team can get tough, even in prime time. Howie58
Something else come to mind on the Flyers. The trade deadline and the Giroux Drama are past. I put myself in the players' shoes and that must have been a serious distraction. It really is the start of a new era. I was getting sick or hearing and reading about it.

Yes it should in my mind - everyone should be playing, coaching, scouting and GMing know they are audtioning with their jobs on the line. But as we know it won't be that way they already have their scapegoats in their crosshairs. Jake was a great purge example, don't regret one second of it but more like him should been shown the door the best way possible for the club going forward. Either by trades cuts or even buy outs. This shat needs to end this offseason...
mojo1917
@OccamsRazor I really think JvR needs to be the next to go. He's costly and is about as un-clutch as a player can be. He's not terrible but he's not produced like a 7.5aav player either. He is truly a boat anchor on the roster.

I agree and if you can't get a team to take him with one season left on his deal even if you picked up half his cap hit then I would buy him out. His roster spot need to go to a kid who is going to help build towards the ultimate goal somewhere in the lineup. The continued approach of adding skill and youth need keep the turnover of the roster going. And we'll he is the next up. He in fact is the exact type of work habit they don't need.

OccamsRazor
I wonder if this kid can be a nice find or is he just another scrub?

That's going to come down to how well your team's scouting crew do their jobs. They get paid to find these things out. If the guy is any good, they will keep things hush hush to the outside world as much as possible, get him in full AHL Phantoms mode with preparations to join the big club at some point. If not, the scouts should find that out too. Lifeblood of a perennial contender is a competent scouting staff! 1

I was curious to see what it would cost to buy him out? Here is the chart: https://www.capfriendly.com/buyout-calculator/james-van-riemsdyk 2022-23 is a fairly hefty hit; 2023-24 isn't bad. Overall savings about $1.5 million. I can't see him traded. I doubt he is re-signed. I doubt he gets much as a free agent anymore. Last year was one of his best as two-way player. This year...looks like he's a spent force. Sad.

Howie58
Jeepers, we start on our heels. Colorado plays Blitzkrieg. Kadri made Seeler a screen.

Howie58
Seeler may not be ready for Prime Time but Carter is not looking good either. I think we see 35 for second period.
Samifan
Yandle scored the 4th goal for the Avs Hart facing buzz saw. I think he played ok but agree there is no need for him to be subject to giving up 10 tonight. Let Jones finish up

flyercanuck
7 hours ago, FireDillabaugh said: It's time to get Hart a competent goaltending coach that he deserves. Someone who knows what it takes to be an NHL starting goaltender and how to coach that skill that it takes. It's time to get rid of Dillabaugh. I don't care if he's a good guy, or if Hart likes him. Carter does not need a "friend" coaching him at this point in his career. He needs someone that's capable of bringing out Carter's talent. Dillabaugh seems to be teaching VERY poor stick hand/blocker techniques, in every single one of the Flyers goaltenders since he's been hired as their goaltending coach. Carter is often dropping his shoulders, making his body smaller, when he should be concentrating on making his body larger. Especially since he's a smaller goaltender. And he appears to be anticipating plays instead of relying on his talent and technique. These are obviously things that are being taught by coaching that should not be happening for a NHL starting goaltender. Dillabaugh has been the constant with the Flyers throughout this long duration of mediocrity. It's time for that to change and to stop allowing him to destroy Carter's career. He's quickly turning Hart into nothing but a backup NHL goaltender, AT BEST. This can not be allowed to continue. It's time that the excuses and the blame on the play in front of this team's goaltending stops immediately. And it's time for a change to happen. Well one shift he has to worry about Ristolainen taking him out, the next he has to worry about playing a man short with Yandle on the ice. Then there's the other guy, Seeler, who's only playing in the NHL cause Minnesota. For anyone who thinks Fletcher is savvy for get Kaprizov in the 5th round, well he also got Nick Seeler. And he's the one he brought with him to Philly.
