BOURDON SENT DOWN.........

No real dog in this hunt, but I thought Bourdon was doing ok for being put into the situation he was with as little experience as he has.

Exactly how I felt. I liked the ability to skate, hit, and get shots on net. D play only gets better with game experience.

Well the positive is he got a taste he and Gus, now they both can try and help the Phantoms try and make the playoffs. Hopefully play BIGGER minutes and work on refining their game.

He may have committed his share of turnovers, but then who on this defense hasn't? Not that that should never be used as an excuse - just to provide some perspective. I think his instincts are basically good. He's working, he's learning, he's playing physical, he's trying, his confidence is building. Keep giving him the opportunity. Just because Grossman and Kubina have bigger bodies, doesn't mean they'll commit fewer turnovers. Hopefully they do what they were brought in to do and keep the front of the net clear. That's where they can make a difference over someone like Bourdon. I'm willing to see where that goes. We'll find out soon enough if that strategy's going to pay off and be the solution the team is looking for.

Both have been sent down. Flyers D are now Timonen, Coburn, Meszaros, Carle, Kubina, Gorssman, and Lilja. I'd rather see Lilja sent down than either of the two rooks.

personally id rather the kids go down and play big minutes for the phantoms than be a healthy scratch every night. they can always be called back up if someone gets hurt
