doom88
Gus was sent down when they got Grossman.Yeah, I went and checked that. I must have been too excited that they got a new defenseman to notice the waive.
Vanflyer
@doom88-"Yeah, I went and checked that. I must have been too excited that they got a new defenseman to notice the waive."Not to nitpick, but the Gustafson transaction is just a direct assignment to Glenn Falls. He is waiver exempt (as is Bourdon).
doom88
A fair technicality, I am guilty of using waive universally.
OH1FlyersFan
No real dog in this hunt, but I thought Bourdon was doing ok for being put into the situation he was with as little experience as he has.
doom88
No real dog in this hunt, but I thought Bourdon was doing ok for being put into the situation he was with as little experience as he has.Exactly how I felt. I liked the ability to skate, hit, and get shots on net. D play only gets better with game experience.
OH1FlyersFan
Exactly, Doom. And the more experience our rookies can get, the better in my opinion. With that, we'll eventually get off this merry-go-round of bringing in 34, 35, 36 year old journeymen defensemen.

Hopefully play BIGGER minutes and work on refining their game.
Spinorama
I thought for sure Gus would get sent down first.me too. are they keeping him around so they can get a better picture on him or are they done with the MAB experiment
orange_crush
THERE IS A GOD !!!!!!!!I would rather send Gus down the Bourdon..I thought Bourdon has played well all year considering the circumstances..
AJgoal
Both have been sent down. Flyers D are now Timonen, Coburn, Meszaros, Carle, Kubina, Gorssman, and Lilja. I'd rather see Lilja sent down than either of the two rooks.

Podein25
I would rather send Gus down the Bourdon..I thought Bourdon has played well all year considering the circumstances..I disagree. Bourdon is a soft turnover machine - just like Carle!
OH1FlyersFan
He may have committed his share of turnovers, but then who on this defense hasn't? Not that that should never be used as an excuse - just to provide some perspective. I think his instincts are basically good. He's working, he's learning, he's playing physical, he's trying, his confidence is building. Keep giving him the opportunity. Just because Grossman and Kubina have bigger bodies, doesn't mean they'll commit fewer turnovers. Hopefully they do what they were brought in to do and keep the front of the net clear. That's where they can make a difference over someone like Bourdon. I'm willing to see where that goes. We'll find out soon enough if that strategy's going to pay off and be the solution the team is looking for.

xganarchy
Bourdon started the season great, but he's gone downhill. It seems like for the past month he's constantly turning the puck over. Then again, maybe it just started with the entire TEAM going on their losing streak...
