Attard -5 vs Caps= incompetent coaching

Attard is playing in his 3rd or 4th pro game straight from college and you put him on the third pair with Cannautan a marginal NHL player, against the high scoring  Caps. A real coach would pair a young guy with the most steady veteran guy on defense and that's how you help improve his game and build confidence . What is he gonna learn from a guy who is a minor leaguer. No wonder many of our young guys don't develop. This is a lost season , so moving one of your better pairs around to help develop a young guy. Just another example of the rampant incompetence.

There is something to be said for the bucket of ice water in the face for a kid to realize just how different this league is to the ones they knew before.

One game shouldn't ruin a kid - of course it depends on a multitude of other factors.

That said, who is the "steady vet" you'd like see him paired with? The guy who can really show him the way to play the game his way...

Ristolainen? Yandle??

Does Sanheim have a way? Are they putting Attard on first pairing?

This should be another edition of "Welcome to the NHL, rookie."

Well ,it is true that this season we don’t have a steady vet on defense but put him pretty much anyone other than Yandle and Cannauton . Either way putting him with your worst defenseman isn’t gonna help his game. I agree that one game won’t ruin him, but multiple games with Cannautan or Yandle could ruin anyone.

They didn't have anyone else left to pair him with. And this wasn't all on his partner it was the forward who are suppose to help do something in their own zone and they didn't. Hung the goalie out to dry.
