Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2022 could include Sedin brothers
Forwards played 17 seasons with Canucks; Luongo, Zetterberg among those eligible for first time

https://www.nhl.com/news/hockey-hall-of-fame-class-of-2022-possible-candidates/c-334720696

MY PREDICTION

Daniel Sedin
Henrik Sedin
Butch Goring
Doug Jarvis
Jennifer Botterill
Herb Carnegie (Builder)
Bryan Murray (Builder)

There are currently 7 members of the 1980s New York Islanders Stanley Cup dynasty in the Hockey Hall of Fame - general manager Bill Torrey (1995), head coach Al Arbour (1996), Mike Bossy (1991), Denis Potvin (1991), Billy Smith (1993), Bryan Trottier (1997), and Clark Gilles (2002). The recent death of Mike Bossy could get one of the four remaining players from the 1980s New York Islanders dynasty, who are highly qualified, to finally be inducted in 2022. Those players are Butch Goring, John Tonelli, Bob Nystrom, and Brent Sutter. The most qualified is Butch Goring, who along with his 4 Stanley Cup rings, also won the Bill Masterton Trophy, the Lady Byng Trophy, and the Conn Smythe Trophy. Brent Sutter also has 3 Canada Cup World Titles.

Guy Lafleur played 17 seasons in the NHL, mostly for the Montreal Canadiens, and won 5 Stanley Cup championships. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988. His recent death could get his former Montreal Canadiens teammate and 4-time Stanley Cup champion Doug Jarvis finally inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022. Doug Jarvis won the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 1984, and the Bill Masterton Trophy in 1987. Doug Jarvis held the record as the NHL's Iron Man for 36 years, playing 964 consecutive games without injury, from October 8, 1975 to October 10, 1987. His record was recently broken during the 2021-2022 NHL season by Keith Yandle and Phil Kessel, putting him back in the spotlight just before the passing of Guy Lafleur. Doug Jarvis also won 2 more Stanley Cups as an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars in 1999, and the Boston Bruins in 2011, bringing his combined player/assistant coach total to 6. Other possibilities for induction in 2022 include the five other Montreal Canadiens players with 5+ Stanley Cup championships, who pre-date Guy Lafleur. Those players are Claude Provost (9), Jean-Guy Talbot (7), Larry Hillman (6), Ralph Backstrom (6), J.C. Tremblay (5).

My voting would go as follows

NO BRAINERS FIRST YEAR The Sedin Twins, Luongo and Zetterberg. This is a deep and talented class and as only four players make the class IMHO I would vote all four of these over anyone else, period.

CARRYOVERS WHO SHOULD BE IN AND WILL BE IN EVENTUALLY Mikhailov not being in IMHO is simply an error that will be corrected with time, hoping it happens while he is alive. Turgeon should have made it as should Roenick, when I think of Carbeneau big Ned and Vachon being in over these two my hands clench in fists of rage. Mogliny and Alfredsson will get in sooner rather than later as well but none of the above are better than Z or the twins or Bobby Lu.

BUILDER CATEGORY Anyone who has watched a moment of US College hockey knows the impact that Red has had on the game, he shoulda been in before Jerry York who was also a very solid pick. I would not vote another Norris into the hall of fame ever, that one is easy. Bryan Muyrray? Really? Keenan? Nah, it has to be Red, he is one of the greatest coaches in any sport history and deserves recognition in the hall.

WOMENS HOCKEY INDUCTEE Dont know. Dont care. With apologies Womens hockey does less for me than womens Golf or the WNBA if that is possible. To paraphrase George Carlin for the sake of keeping it clean, I would rather watch Flies procreate than watch womens hockey. I know some people love it, good on them. I am not one and refuse to pretend otherwise.

So my class

The Twins

Z

Bobby Lu

Red

Some woman I have never heard of and who I will forget about five minutes later

Sounds about right to me

That great Montreal Dynasty is already well represented in the Hall, Shutt, Lafleur, Dryden, Robinson, Scotty, Savard, Gainey, Cournoyer, Langway played at the end of the Dynasty, Big M at the beginning,  Sam Pollock. Jarvis was a solid 4th liner who if not for the iron man streak would have been as forgotten as Murray Wilson or Jimmy Roberts. He is nopt now, never has been and never will be a hall of famer.

Butch Goring also remembered for one thing. He was never, ever even the best center on his own team. In LA he has behind Dionne, on the Island he was second liner behind Trottier. Again, the Islanders are very saturated, Gillies, Battling Billy, Bossy, Trottier, Potvin, Arbour, Bill Torrey are already in. Gording is remembered for his crazy helmet, mostly as the 'missing piece' that helped put the islanders over the top in one of the greatest deadline deals ever.He was a second line center his entire career, a damn good one but not a HOFer. It would be like putting Pierre Larouche or Craig Mactavish in the Hall. Simply not worthy riding teammates coattails for both he and Jarvis, both remembered for one thing only. Sorry, neither should ever see the inside of the Hall unless they buy a ticket like the rest of us.

I can see Alfredsson before Zetterberg, he has been waiting longer, both are deserving. Z gets in next year.

Glad to see the twins get in together first ballot.

Yea, but did anyone REALLY wanna be that one a-hole that separated them for..well, anything??

The inductions of Daniel Alfredsson, Roberto Luongo, Daniel Sedin, and Henrik Sedin in 2022 really clears up the HHOF's backlog of more recent players who are highly qualified for induction, which means we could finally see more of the older, longer waiting players finally inducted in the next two years - Keith Tkachuk, Pat Verbeek, Pierre Turgeon, Jeremy Roenick, Peter Bondra, Alexander Mogilny, Theo Fleury, Mike Vernon, Tom Barrasso.

It looks like the voters at the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in Minnesota are playing copy-cat now to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. They will also be inducting twins this year! Jocelyne Lamoureux and Monique Lamoureux are the Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin at this year's U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This is clearly intensional!

And now the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame is playing copy-cat with the Lamoureux twins induction this year.
