SCFlyguy
More to the point of this thread, the Rangers are both up 1-0 in the ECF and the second youngest team in the NHL. I don’t think they will get it done this year, but that’s a very good position to be in looking at the next five years.

Trading him at the deadline for less than he paid, which would have happened, would have made him look like the total idiot he is and so he had to sign him to justify the trade for him. Face it, they are blaming injuries and staying the course, all the way to the bottom. Fair enough, the Flyers management will continue to use the injuries excuse to justify their stupidity. Right, and this is the issue I've had about the Flyers' "plan" - they need to be better than other teams in their division and conference. Other teams aren't just sitting around waiting for the Flyers to be better. Honestly, I'm not at all convinced that the roster is a healthy Ellis and a best available UFA away from "contendinng." The organization* has been in "retooling" mode since it famously won the trades. Their efforts have given us one playoff round win in a decade. To your point, there IS "a plan" and it's to "keep doing things the way we've always done them." I'd like a "plan" that consists of more than "retooling" a roster that's not all that impressive in the first place - injuries or no. Oddly enough, the subject of this thread embarked upon such a plan and is up 1-0 in the ECFs while the Flyers didn't even make the playoffs. Again. But they need people to buy retail in the new club level so...
Dumpster Hockey
How the Rangers got back to the NHL players and are still standing. Look at the build of the roster. First the kid line. All have been productive and all drafted in the 1st round by the Rangers and developed. There are others like Kreider, Lundkvist, K. Miller, Schneider, and Strome all home grown and developed players Also the goalie Shesterkin was drafted by the Rangers. All these home grown players are contributing to the success of this team. The Rangers have also had success in adding players like Zibanejad, Fox, Panarin, Trouba, Motte, Lindgren, Goodrow, and Copp. They have also all contributed along the way. This is what a successful organization looks like with a lot of home grown that is developed correctly and then they add the correct pieces to that. Just saying in his job he kind of backed himself into a no win corner and thus followed through on the only option he had for the optics to his bosses. We fans can all see the failure and absurdity of this.
