Wild vs. Coyotes 11/27/22 @ 1:00PM CST at the "X"

The Wild focused on scoring for a few minutes and it was enough to win the game.  Way too many passed up chances though.  Minnesota was fortunate the Coyotes' lacked the skill and ability to make us pay for trying to be cute with the puck.

Although if anyone wants to find any validation in adding Reaves, the Coyotes didn't try a damn thing against us all game.  No silly crap after the whistle by Crouse or Kassian.  They wanted nothing to do with it.  We are fortunate Foligno's mouth didn't get us behind the 8-ball in this one.

Not sure why we keep waiting around to send Rossi down to Iowa.  Are they afraid they will embarrass him?  I think everyone knows they're going to send him back.

@MNSOTA and I had the Arizona broadcast for today's game.  I sure as heck don't miss Matt McConnell one bit.  He wanted to talk about Goligoski's 'story' but he kind of sidetracked himself and never got back to it.  I was kind of interested to hear his take on it.  They did also mention everyone wanting to deal Dumba and they can't understand why we would do that.

Just thought people might appreciate hearing that outside perspective on it since it was mentioned by the opposing broadcast.

It's been fun to hear away broadcasters this season. Not too much Homerisms and like you said, A different view.

Maybe Rossi put too much pressure on himself to be that replacement of Fiala and to be that linemate with Boldy.
Send him back down to get his game back or confidence.

It was a pretty ugly game.  No doubt about it.  We didn't have to do much and we still nearly threw that one away.

I think Rossi has put pressure on himself, but I also don't think he's the player we thought we drafted unfortunately.  I just don't see the burst of the motor that he had as a major junior player.  In some ways, it reminds me of watching old film of Thomas Vanek when he was with the Gophers.  Vanek used to just fly around the ice, and when he didn't out skill people he'd out work them.  At some point, as a pro that hustle element of his game faded away and he became the cherry picker he was by the time he got to Minnesota.

Rossi looks a lot like that cherry picker right now.  Not really willing to do the dirty work, etc.  He seems to think it will just happen by being there.  But his decision-making isn't up to speed just as his skating is not up to speed.  And then he tops it off by saying he feels he's better served by staying in St. Paul.  Not playing is not going to get him up to speed.  I don't care what he does in practice, it not the same as being in games and that's the speed he needs to try to reach.

I don't mind the team sitting him out, because by the quality of play...he's the one that deserves to sit.  But they also shouldn't wait and just send him back to Iowa already.  Dragging it out isn't helping him or the situation.

I also can't say I'm surprised that Rossi struggled either.  I watched him all season last year in Iowa (I had AHL TV, watched his home and away games), once Boldy left, what you have seen in Minnesota this year looked a lot like what I saw in Iowa most nights.  Especially at even strength.  He didn't have the acceleration to win the races to loose pucks nor the burst to create space for himself.  He was a power play specialist and by the end of the year he became more and more passive and dare I say it, disinterested.  At the end of the season we heard some vague references that he may have been injured but nothing really definitive.

It really got me to question whether there was long-term effects from his myocarditis or did he just not think he had to work anymore?  If its the former that's sad and unfortunate, if is the latter than its an indictment.  Either way, its not good for the Wild who really need him to match the hype he had when he was selected whether that's fair or not.

2022/04/26 Arizona Coyotes 5 - Minnesota Wild 3

last game 😔 hoping for a point at least today  4-3 wild today 🤨

You are the winner in predicting the right score. 4:3 Wild won today. It was not an easy trapping game which I listened on a radio. Next game will be more opened, more offensive, more speedy.

Actually Rossi had not bad season at all last year in AHL. 53 points out of 63 games (18 goals; 35 assists; +/- +11). In his recent interview he said, that he will learn more here even if he will be watching games in the box. He prefer to stay with the Wild. Probably practice with Kaprizov and Zuccarello would help as well. His preseason was good too. I think he did not find so far his pair like Fiala found Boldy last year or like Kaprizov found Zuccarello for 3 seasons in a row. Here is  a different level of hockey which he really wants to learn. He needs to learn how to make a sudden right decision as fast as possible, which he is not good yet. What is interesting in KHL they start placing perspective player even at the age of 16 y.o. for 20 games for 2-3 seasons like they did with Danila Iurov to accommodate to the higher level of hockey.

Trying to concentrate...😁
Let's get back to the 6 D not 7 for some consistency.
Already surpassed my fear of only winning 2 of 7 on this homestand. Would be great to at least go 4-3 if not 5-2.

It would be great to win at least 4 out of 7 home games. Let's pray to see more flowers on different spots.

I thought that would be a possible spark by doing so but a few other guys are what Evason said, "Worked for the chance". Steel earned the spot and now has to keep it and so far, He's doing fine on L1.
Rossi missed his chance by his own play in the real games. Management has their hands full now trying to figure out what to do with Rossi and how long they see him staying on this team.

Rossi looked like the player everyone hoped for for one shift. Problem is he hasn’t repeated that shift.
I’m not sure they should keep him if he can only play with the right players.
Maybe going back to Iowa will wake him up. Hopefully they explain to him what he needs to work on.

I certainly hope they have stopped the Wild tradition of handing roster spots to #1 draft picks.

Maybe there is something related to the myocarditis, which is why they are delaying sending him back to Iowa. He'd get better medical treatment up here.

But at some point they need to make a move with him. Watching and practicing hasn't improved his play. Maybe he needs a stronger message, like a trip to Iowa...

They did. Here is a link from hockeywilderness.com  regarding that:
