The Flyers are also working in a trade involving goalie Carter Hart. It’s not at the finish line, like the Provorov deal, but Philly is actively on it, as @ADiMarco25

Until I know what's happening; I think I'll refrain from judging the quality of the deals.

 

But things are happening, and after two off-seasons of watching the Flyers FO do diddly /poo...I'm good with it.

The status quo wasn't going to get the organization anywhere, so yes TRADE ALL THE THINGS!!!!!!!

Now they just have to draft AND develop some players with those picks. Which is the part they've been having extreme difficulty with.

Yes ... the Flyers got back 3 picks ....but more importantly they get back into the 1st Round this year in what is being consider a deep draft.

They also get a young defenseman with size, skating ability and history with Andrae in various tournaments. It's too bad that Provorov didn't pan out because he should have been a real good one. But the picks are huge and Sean Walker is the kind of defenseman that can be flipped at the trade deadline. Plus, that 22nd overall selection is HUGE. That's Riley Heidt territory. If the Flyers end up with Benson and Heidt in the first this year, that's a win. This is a real solid trade. Briere did well.

If the flyers are in true rebuild, getting rid of the contract is not a bad idea. Peterson has been God awful in LaLa Land, even getting buried in the ahl for the second half and his contract is rancid. IDK man, not sure from the flyers perspective why this makes sense. Love it for Columbus.

After watching his predecessor get totally raped in every single deal this one makes Briere look like a complete genius.

 

I liked Provorov, and thought he deserved better. Still think he turns out to be a good one. Hopefully our drafting and developing gets on track or this will all be for naught. But it's still better than anything Fletcher did.

I have a Flyers cap personalized with Provorov. This franchise ruined him. I liked Ivan, but it was clear he didn't want to be in Philadelphia, especially after the season ending press conference last year. 

 

I'm betting the senior advisors are seething over this one. You can bet they wouldn't have approved this deal.

Honestly ... I hope they are  ... their time has passed.  And yes ... I agree ...they never would have let this trade go through with Fletch.

 

 

FWIW .... Columbus fans are not happy about the trade for a myriad of reasons and it is not all hockey related which is a shame.
