HF.net 2024-25 League Season

Hey all, I'm planning to commit to running this league for next season with either 12 or 14 teams max.  There are a couple of managers that have expressed that they want to sit out this season.  I believe the league will continue to have full scoring categories, maybe with less IR spots, maybe take a look at roster size, and movement.

For some strange reason we lost the league history and I have to invite everyone.  Please state if you wish to be invited to play in season 2024-25.

Also please state any changes that interest you.

Thanks,

hf

I'm in !

I'm perfectly fine with the current format, roster size and spots. Maybe two comments/suggestions:

  • Dropping the GWG category. It's more of a random stat because one goal counts for one goal, whether it's scored at the beginning of the game or at the end of it.
  • Maybe start the playoffs one week earlier: During the last week of activity, while being longer, teams tend to rest and sit players, which may cause to some bias.

I guess the plan is to send a Doodle to find the best tentative date for the draft. I know some managers play in other league and with the season start coming soon, spots are quickly filling.

Thanks !

I like the current format but also agree with Meth to

Also make any changes necessary to prevent Dave from winning again LOL.

  • hf101 changed the title to HF.net 2024-25 League Season

Invites have been sent this morning.  Currently set as a 14 team league.

Set the date for playoffs 1 week earlier, Added 1 Center position and removed 1 IR spot.  We can discuss for sure the changes.  Or any other changes we should make.

I'm wondering if Oct. 1st or 2nd (at any time) would be ok for most of you...

I set the date of the draft to Oct 1 at 8PM EST.   If this is a conflict for anyone we can look for another time.

Sorry about not seeing the invite.  Last season the draft order was set.  Are we doing the same this year or will it be random?

I believe we will go back to random draft order with a snake draft.  Expecting the league to be 12 teams once Tony joins.

Did I surprise everyone when i took Brady Tkachuk 1st overall? Everyone made the McDavid jokes lol

I like the team i drafted. ill probably suck at scoring PPG and PPA, but I got multi positional coverage, which i crave.

But I expect Tkachuk to score at least 70 points, 350+ SOG, over 100PIM and 250+ hits and even the occasional FOW

Petterson was a bit of a strange pick because I hate low shot totals with early picks. He can score 89-100 points, but also hits 125 and blocks 70 despite being a lady bing for PIM's

Bobrovsky and Kochetkov mirror 2 of my 3 Keeper league goalies. Solid

Eriksson Ek wins 800+ faceoffs, has over 150 hits and scores 60+ points and 55 blocks with decent PIM's.

Slafkovsky exploded halfway through last year after only 8 points in 30 games. And he hits a lot with 150 hits and 71 blocks. I let him slide because I thought I could draft him late, but felt like i was pushing my luck by round 11.

Matheson may have been a slip pick for me. But he had nearly 200 blocks last year and 60 points. i want my Dmen to have 150+ shots and lots of hits or blocks ideally. He also took 60 PIM last year

Kadri is an old favorite. Calgary will lean on him. He shoots 250+ shots, wins 600 FOW and generally takes stupid penalties. his hits have been drying up as he ages though

Nurse is ideal for bangers. Lots of hits, blocks, near 200 SOG and stupid penalties. he can chip in 30-40 points too.

Giroux is getting old, but I needed RW and why not a C/RW who wins 600 FOW

Hertl is a wild card. im not crazy about his health. But vegas paid a ton to get him, so i suspect they will force feed him PP1 and he can win a lot of FOW, he hits, blocks and away from the sharks, will shoot more.

Toffoli I suspect the sharks will lean on. he produces no matter who he is with and shoots a lot. LW/RW is a flex i like

Seth jones kinda sucks now. but he shoots over 170 SOG, had hits and blocks and is playing on Bedard's PP

Lundell I smell a breakout. he was so good in the playoffs. Also Sam Bennett sucks. oh Bennett is great in this league, but he is a 40 point player who sucks at FOW and who they could move to line 3 to promote Lundell

Dostal is on a young ducks team loaded with future stars and is not Gibson. Gibson's appendix exploded and im pretty sure Ducks fans were hoping it was somehow career ending.

Adam Larsson is a dependable hit/Blocker i can plug and play.

Ekblad is a "maybe he will get PP1 again", but could be my first drop

JtCompher is more FOW from LW or RW

Overall, I feel well rounded

A little bit surprised, but not completely. I had the first choice in one my other redraft league but I didn't have the balls to do it, so I went with that McDavid bum. Overall, seems like you have a very solid team. I'll go with mine:

Goalies

Hellebuyck - No brainer pick with Shesterkin gone

Markström - I believe in a bounce-back year for him and playing in a very improved Devils team

Binnington - I hate the Blues and him especially but it's still a good insurance starter even if Hofer pushes for more starts

Centers

J.T. Miller - I was surprised to see him available at #12, so I had to go with one of my favorite and the reason why I got the Presidents' upset last season. Yet, I'm still expecting some regression even if he remains a machine.

Trocheck - Same as Eriksson Ek, tons of FOW and hits playing for a winning team

Hischier - Usually I rarely go with homers but swiss blood is that it is. The Devils should be better and he's a reliable joker there that can push for 900+ FOW if healthy

D.Strome - A bit of a gamble here. I still think he holds the #1C spot in Washington vs. Dubois, and feeding Ovie should help his production.

McTavish - Another long shot here for a kind of Stützle of the poor. He knows the penalty box well and is an intriguing joker in

Wings

Stützle - Expecting a bounce-back year from him too. being a polyvalent center with C/LW eligibility helps.

Buchnevich - Again, hard to pick a Blues but he went pretty late and should thrive in St-Louis top-6. Not to mention that he's currently playing center.

Jarvis - My weak point, I love him, so does Rod. He picks some FO here and there, hits as well and is good contributor.

Byfield - I'm high on him. Plays center with the RW tag, I'm expecting/hoping the same trend he had last season

Boldy - I like the dual LW/RW, should be a good contributor in a weak team. I'm just concerned for his health

Peterka - I'm on the he-will-explode bandwagon after the departure of Skinner. Technically grabbed him from waivers but the spot will be between him and Tolvanen who is still a good banger guy with a lot of hits

Defense

Dobson - I'm usually trying to go with at least one QB. Should do well and blocks a lot.

Sanderson - Change of plans as he was still free quite late. Had to pick him as the #1 Dman in Ottawa who also blocks a lot

Gudas - Fatally, I had to compensate with the typical hitter/PIM/blocker dude

Romanov - My last depth pick, aiming to get hits and blocks.

Rumor has it that the kings are slotting him as a C....Byfield.

They are definitely experimenting with it. The problem is, he isn't good at faceoffs.

I feel like Thomas Akil will end up 3C and Danault will return to 2C. Last year they played Byfield at C, but let Dubois take the faceoffs from LW, and for stretches they put Byfield on LW line 1 beside Kopitar and Kempe.
