I don't know if I think he's doing a poor job. If I had a nickel for every longstanding trope delivered in this forum-I'd have a couple of bucks for sure. There comes a time when I get tired of reading how everything is terrible and I feel the need to speak up. This was one of those times. carry on. yes Ian Laperrier is a douche and i hate him and everything else. I hate Laperriere as a coach because he's not a good coach. Remember the awful PK the flyers had during the HAKTARD era? Do you remember who was coach of the PK? It was Laperriere. He's basically failed up into every role he's had within the organization. He's a good guy, but he's not particularly good at his job. That's what irritates me. There were NUMEROUS better development coaches available and Schmuck Felcher took the lazy route with the Laperriere hire and Briere continued it by signing him to an extension. What's even more aggravating? There were periods of time where the Flyers could have had Benoit Groulx and they let Kris Knoblauch walk. Picture those guys in Lehigh Valley working with the talent. Instead, we've got Puckhead who basically tells check harder. Now I'm starting to get angry thinking about that moron running things in Lehigh Valley..... 1

flyercanuck
Lets face it...if he was really any good the Flyers would have already traded him.

It was Laperriere. So your one criticism of Laperriere goes back to 2015-2018 when he ran the Flyers' PK. Hakstol's first 2 years Flyers' PK finished ~20th. Hakstol's final year Flyers' PK finished tied for 5th at 80%. 2021-22 Phantoms finished .480, missed the POs. Laperriere's sophomore year finished .556, lost in R1. Last year .507 lost in R2. Their record suggests Laperriere is having some success as a HC, somewhat comparable to his growth running the Flyers' PK. As to developing players I see a noticeable improvement the last few years how guys play on call-ups and in preseason with the Flyers. It's a bit of a stretch to claim, as you did earlier, that a couple players' progress is "despite" Laperriere. Maybe you're right maybe Laperriere stinks as a HC. The results (as far as I can tell) don't bear that out. Could the Phantoms/Flyers do better? Maybe. But it seems to me Laperriere is a solid and constructive link in their development pipeline.
