Tortorella might be the only honest person in the organization

Tortorella: Flyers' goaltending situation 'scares the crap out of me'

https://thescore.com/nhl/news/3088791

Clearly he's concerned. It's kind of refreshing that there isn't 'team speak' with regards to him. He'll tell it like it is. I'm not a fan of his coaching style, but I certainly appreciate the honesty after years of ********.

He's right to be concerned. As much as I like Sam Ersson, 1) his game has gone off the rails toward the end of every season, and 2) this is his debut as a starting goalie for an NHL team.

Taking over for Carter Hart when Hart left is not the same as being "the man" beginning the season. Not to mention the Flyers lost a lot of games down the stretch. Obviously not all Ersson's fault - his backup was Cal Petersen enough said - but Ersson is a question mark as a starting NHL goalie.

Yes. In the same way that New Coke and the Wendy's 1/3 pounder are question marks.   I have yet to see what makes him a starter.

How sad is it that we haven’t had a real goalie since 1987 (Hextall I)

We did have a "real" goalie momentarily at the very beginning of his career, but the Flyers decided to part with him and go with the Russian Bear .....oh what could have been......sigh

Ughhh don’t remind me!!  My brother and and were saying how he reminded us of Pelle and how he was our goalie of the future and then the space cadet was brought in.  I’ll never forget being at a game where Bryz ducked to avoid being hit with the puck only for it to be a goal.  We were stunned!

Bryz is still lost in the woods ........  Who ever thought a goalie would duck from a puck ..... (SMH)

And still getting paid by the Flyers...

Fun fact: know who was bought out by the Flyers the same year as Ilya Bryzgalov?

Danny Briere.

:hocky:

1.  That’s right…. The gift that keeps giving… (though… and correct me if I am wrong…. But that $$$ no longer counts towards the cap)

2. I totally forgot about Briere being bought out in the same year….. oh the irony….

Bryz & Briere were "compliance buyouts" where the owners needed a special dispensation to spend obscene amounts of money for players to no longer play for them in the name of fiscal responsibility.

I watched that game with a bunch of die-hard Rangers' fans and we were all just like you, stunned (and disgusted). For like 3 months afterwards at work they'd do the Bryzgalov Duck whenever they saw me... what a mistake that guy was... and the Flyers are still paying him I believe.

Do you happen to remember a clip of Bryzgalov...it was around that same time... Bobrovksy was in net and there was a TV timeout. He skates over to Bryzgalov, gets to the bench and Bryzgalov yawns - yawns right at him, mouth wide open ... then turns away.

It was against the Rangers?  I forgot what team but I remember losing the game. How embarrassing!

Oh the yawn!  Yes that’s online for sure!

Oh I don't remember who we were playing I just remember a couple friends/coworkers, both huge Rangers' fans were at our place that night.

I searched "Bryzgalov ducks puck" and this came up... I guess it was this one.

If he's honest, he'll come out and say he doesn't give a crap about Luchankos development, he only cares about trying to barely make the playoffs this season.

What about the McDonalds Arch Deluxe?

I miss the buns for that burger.

I worked at McDonalds in 1998-2000 and putting those buttered buns in the toaster made the whole kitchen smell good lol

Staff used those buns no matter what sandwich we were having.

Then they phased it out and phased pizza out and brought in wraps and the big Xtra.  Wasn't the same

I used to get it trying to win that years monopoly game.  I really liked the “special sauce” along with the buns!

Hexy had one great year his rookie season,.he went downhill after that. He had all those hamstring injuries and a hip injury.  Soon after he was giving up cheap back breaking goals, flopping on the ice like a fish out water and giving up 50 footers through the five hole.

I agree wholeheartedly, it’s literally been since 1987 since we really had a stopper. We have had some decent guys who may have even stolen a game or 2 along the way but never on a consistent basis like #1, #31, and 1987 #27

When I worked there we just peeled monopoly stuff for fun and gave the winning ones to friends lol
