What's interesting is that we've done well against them (they are 6-5-1 against us).  We have to choke their offense and swoop in for score:

We had a split with them last year--the home team took both.  I view this as Western Conference "Speed-Skill" team versus an Eastern Conference, Grind Squad (Carolina seems more Western).  The O and B can't get into a shoot 'em up with this squad.

As much as the Flyers' transition game has improved - it's getting closer to where it was last year - I think you're right we try to run 'n gun with these guys and it'll be embarrassing. Unless maybe if Fed-o-sov has one heck of a game in net!

Lots of game left but 3-0 Flyers ... looks like we're catching Vegas at the right time ... their 4th game in 6 days. Credit the Flyers they're taking it to them ... nice to see Couturier get one skating hard to the net off a nice outlet pass from TK.

 

Fedotov is one gangly goaltender sprawling and scrapping. Flyers need to get him a W tonight.

Grateful, he OYA,,,,On Your Ass. He is doing well but strange. You wonder what his teammates think?  It isn't calming. Times it reminds of Neuvirth collapsing.

Had a feeling I might be jinxing them - ha! 3-0 now 3-2 ... Flyers getting a little loose and Vegas has the talent to capitalize on TOs .

HEY HEY Michkov gets one back 4-2 ... good hard-working shift from Tippett, Frost and Michkov - Michkov seemed to know right where the puck would bounce he skated right to the slot and BAM it's in.

 

edit: ugh Couturier TO then hooks his man... took Vegas 4 secs to score on their PP. I feel like Fedotov should've caught that but Dorofeyev has a hard shot he's scoring goals in bunches this year

The worst lead in hockey seems to be the one the Flyers have…. They played well most of the game but a couple of real bad turnovers came back to haunt them. Credit to Samsanov for that win. The Flyers should have had at least 7 goals with the chances they had. Extremely entertaining game and if I have see them lose this is how it should be done.

Torts said it. In so many words, they outplayed Vegas for 53 minutes but lost the game in the remaining seven. 

 

I agree with Scott and Al on the D. Some tough decisions will be needed when Drysdale and/or Ers are back. That said, Drysdale may be on the trade block!

Yeah not a total waste. Good effort by the Flyers, nice to see the offense, the forecheck clicking. Samsonov is the only reason Vegas makes it to OT and to the shootout.

 

Flyers' goaltending numbers stink again ... what else is new? Fedotov was solid despite the numbers. Maybe Dorofeyev's shot on the PP - the only one that was "iffy" I think.

 

The Flyers played really well against one of the league's best. It was an entertaining game. A couple younger players really stepped up including (but not only) Michkov.

 

The "stars" of the game on NHL.COM must've been picked by Flyers' fans:

 

1. Michkov (goal)

2. Eichel (GW shootout goal)

3. Andrae (1st NHL goal)

 

Samsonov was 1st star imho - nobody else was even close.

Let's hope so, before he gets hurt for the 6th time. To me, he already lost his job to Andrae and when Bonk comes, he's finished.

Hunter McDonald to a lefty will be taking Seeler spot soon hopefully no less than by next year's trade deadline.

Andrae has shown that he is very capable and looks better every time I see him play. Nothing against Drysdale other than his inability to avoid the injury bug. I know he is still young but his injury list is problematic.
