Some folks around this site won't understand this, but probably about anyone who is a Wild fan will.  I have been writing for Youth Hockey Hub for a few years; profiling 5 Girls HS games and 5 Boys HS games per week.  So I thought I would post them here.

If anyone thinks this doesn't belong in an NHL forum doesn't understand Minnesota or the fact that there is a really good chance players I talk about will eventually make their way to NHL.  I remember writing about Jackson Blake with Eden Prairie...he's in the Show now.  Not because of anything I wrote, but it's pretty cool to see that progression and understand you were following / tracking a player from their High School days to making it to the pinnacle of professional hockey.

Anyways...here you go.  And just an FYI, the Girls season started two weeks before the Boys season did.

Week #1 (Nov. 21-23) Boys HS Hockey Game Previews

Some of these names are still near the top of the state rankings as I post this on Dec. 11th while others have really faded back.

I strongly suggest you follow @KarlEastHockey for Class AA Boys rankings on Twitter/X, or @ClassAHockeyGuy as they are as good as it gets.

Week #4 (Nov. 29th-30th) Girls HS Hockey Game Previews

Week #2 (Nov. 29th-30th) Boys HS Hockey Game Previews

I think we might see some new schools / faces at state this year in both Class A and Class AA.  While the bluebloods like Edina, Hill-Murray will probably be there...there are some teams like Centennial/Spring Lake Park for girls hockey that is a true contender.  Andover has slipped for both boys and girls teams this season...after some strong years.

Hibbing/Chisholm is making a big comeback in Class A and believe it or not I think they have a real chance to topple Hermantown from its perch in 7A this season.  The Hawks have slipped back a bit and the Bluejackets star has been rising, something to keep an eye on.

Week #5 (Dec. 5th-7th) Girls HS Hockey Game Previews

Week #3 (Dec. 5th-7th) Boys HS Hockey Game Previews

If you want even more information on HS Hockey or want something to listen to.  Give Youth Hockey Hub's Rink of Fire Podcast a listen if you want to know everything about Boys HS hockey in the state.  They cover it all; player and coach interviews too.  Pete Waggoner also has a pretty good HS hockey podcast too although it normally is more focused on boys hockey.

They also have a Girls Hockey podcast too called Her Ice which does a pretty good job of showcasing Girls HS hockey too.

Week #6 (Dec. 12th-14th) Girls HS Hockey Game Previews

Week #4 (Dec. 12th-14th) Boys HS Hockey Game Previews

These are my latest previews which I wrote this week.  Keep an eye on Monticello (boys) in Class A.  As I mentioned before, with Hermantown and Warroad being not quite as dominant this is a year for an outsider to make a push.  Dodge County has a strong chance to win a state title for Class A for the girls.

Moorhead certainly looks to be the favorite in 8AA again.  I will be watching them on Dec. 26th when they play Edina a 2nd time.  They already beat the Hornets once this season.  Bemidji seems ok, but I don't think Moorhead is threatened much by them.

I saw Moorhead play on December 26th against Edina.  Their second game against the Hornets and they were in control pretty much the whole game.  The Spuds top two lines really could dictate the pace of play and really did a great job of attacking the middle of the ice.  Moorhead's defense never seemed frazzled, even as Edina tried crashing the net and working for greasy goals.  The game got a little close in the 2nd period, but then Moorhead struck off the rush and they never looked back.  They had a fantastic tournament in Prior Lake earning wins against Edina, Eden Prairie and St. Thomas Academy who they play again this weekend.

Interestingly, on the bench...Jon Ammerman seems to be relishing the time to be more of a teacher while it really kind of looks like Matt Cullen is being more of the bench boss.  Either way, even as Edina got a bit chippy late in the game the Spuds knew they were owning the Hornets mentally and their frustration was a sign of that.

No matter what, Moorhead is a very deserving #1.  I also saw Hill-Murray play too, and they have a great transition game with the Boden Sampair line.  But I'd still put Moorhead ahead of them.

Moorhead went all orange this year with one of their uniform combinations and they looked pretty good actually, not garish like Anaheim's jerseys.  Otherwise they normally have their normal Tootsie Roll colors.  Moorhead is still ranked #1 after some tough wins over this week.  Not sure if anyone else has seen this guy's work, but Karl Schuettler (@KarlEastHockey) does a fantastic job with rankings for Class AA.  @ClassAHockeyGuy does an equally great job for Boys class A rankings.
