Howie58 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) Greetings: Dallas is the favorite (-168) and has taken seven of the last eight against us: https://www.oddsshark.com/nhl/dallas-philadelphia-odds-january-9-2025-2300409 Dallas is 8-2 over the last 10; we are 2-6-2. The big difference statistically with the teams is defense; Dallas averages one fewer goal a game: https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/dal-vs-phi/2025/01/09/2024020657 We are starting the second half of the season and the March 7th deadline is approaching. With two weeks off for the 4 Nations gig starting February 12th, you wonder if deals will start sooner than later? I am seeing Ersson versus Oettinger between the pipes, but that isn't confirmed. This is another tough match-up. Edited January 9 by Howie58 1 Quote

Wow is that right, Ersson is back from injury? Oh boy I dunno how I feel about that. As everyone knows I'm in a minority (of 1?) who likes Ersson's potential and thinks he can be a solid NHL goalie - starter? backup? one or the other. But I have to admit this latest injury shook my confidence. Another "core" or groin injury ... for anybody but especially a goaltender is really bad. Fingers crossed he's okay and can stop pucks, doesn't have any "he'd like to have back." Quote
Math Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Very good news for the Flyers: the Stars have decided to insert Dumba back in the line-up. Quote
FD19372 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 That bounce doesn’t go in for Bourque, if the Flyers were a good hockey team. Quote
Math Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Sorry for Dumba. Usually, he made those kind of play in front of his own net but he never listens. Quote
GratefulFlyers Posted January 10 Posted January 10 2 saves on 4 shots ... this is getting comical ... f...ng ridiculous Quote
Samifan Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Forget Jeff Reese was the goalie coach for Dallas. Did the Flyers fire him or did he leave on his own? I don’t recall why he left after doing a fairly good job while he coached the 17 goalies that came through Philly Quote
Howie58 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Boy, Dallas is skilled. Frost ended the drought. But Philly doesn't have the cohesion or flow of the Stars. Quote

I don’t recall why he left after doing a fairly good job while he coached the 17 goalies that came through Philly He fixed Steve Mason when he got to Philadelphia. He made Rob Zepp look like a legitimate NHL back up. Reese was fired because Craig Berube played Mason in a game less than a week after meniscus surgery because the Flyers were down a goalie and he had a for because Berube promised him he wasn't going to play Mason. He was furious. Hextall sided with Berube and fired Reese. Hextall then hired current goalie coach Kim Dillabaugh. What a trade off that was...... 2 Quote
BobbyClarkeFan16 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Imagine calling this a "competitive rebuild." This was Charles Fletcher level of entertainment and hockey. Quit this and blow this up. Do the right thing. Quote
Fuzz Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Just keep losing & get a top draft pick. This June & next June. And it's time to trade away players that aren't part of the future. Laughton, Frost & smurphy Bobby Brink just to start. I can think of many more. Let's do a real rebuild! Edited January 10 by Fuzz 1 Quote

Well at least the **** performance was in front of the Flyers legends from the 70s & 80s that all moved into executive positions and put the franchise where there are today. 2 Quote
Howie58 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Ers, 19 of 22 for an .864 save percentage. Wonderful! Quote
Howie58 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Ashlyn, Scott, and Al are losing credibility. I expect Homer stuff from Ashlyn. Al Morganti is not talking talent. Hartnell, to his credit, said this not conditioning. They can't finish or press hard enough. Quote
Math Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The Flyers seemed to have stayed in the locker room for the first. Philly was often out of sync and made tons of turnovers. The second period was more even. The Stars played a but on the heels in the third but the Flyers had no other choices than go in full offense mode. From an outer perspective, Philly has talented players that can show interesting things in the offensive zone but they seem to lack chemistry. Not easy if your coach keeps on shuffling the lines all the time. A top quarterback Dman is also missing a lot with the recurrent problem in front of the net. Quote
GratefulFlyers Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Well that sucked. Poor execution from beginning to end. Ersson was fine not great not terrible, not the reason they lost. That wasn't the same Flyers we watched compete so well against the Leafs the past 2 games. Oh well it happens they laid an egg. On Ed Snider Night (or whatever it was called). Quote

Wait that isn't a winning strategy seems Dannh would figure this out? Oh well by 2030 he will surely figure it out and maybe by then make a trade we'll just wait and see.... Quote
GratefulFlyers Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Judging the Flyers by last night's game is a mistake. Most of us played have you ever gone out your first shift and knew right away your team just didn't "have it?" That was the Flyers last night. It wasn't lack of trying or lack of anything in particular it was just one of those nights. Burn the tape and move on... Quote
SCFlyguy Posted January 11 Posted January 11 No one is judging the team based on last night's game. We're judging the team based on the last 12 years of games. 1 1 Quote
