CreaseAndAssist Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Observations from tonight’s #mnwild game against Colorado. The Good: Given the current state of affairs for the Wild, no one got hurt?!?! Penalty kill was actually good. David Jiricek looked reasonable in his Wild debut against a fast Avalanche team no less. The Bad: Declan Chisholm’s horrific fanned pass turnover seemed to be the game changer. Gustavsson got beat more than few unscreened shots from a distance. He’s surrendered 10 goals in his last two starts. The Ugly: Avalanche scoring on just about any opportunity off the rush, it’s just deflating when you feel like any open look will end up in the back of the net. Only problem is, just the whole org’s goaltending is out. 1 Quote
Alexandron Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Just listened Gustavsson talk. He recognized that these his last 2 games were horrible for his play . He hoped that next game will be better for him. It was no excuse for tonight game, Middleton said. I agree with CreaseAndAssist as well as with radio commentators that Jiricek has a NHL caliber and talent. He looked pretty well in his debut in a Wild uniform. Hope he will continue this way. Quote
Alexandron Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Iowa team has now an interesting goalie William Rosseau. Intriguing to see his potential talent in Iowa. Quote

I thought he looked ok, and honestly...better than I expected. However, it's still a ways away to consider him an NHL regular at this point. He wasn't out there for any of the goals against, but the team did also shelter his minutes and didn't exactly use him in many defensive situations either. My only gripe is I wish I would've seen the decisiveness in his movements (even in the offensive zone he was more assertive) when he was with Iowa but perhaps that was simply because he was literally in his 2nd game with the team when I saw him play. I would still say the team's best defensive prospect is Zeev Buium by a country mile... Quote
Tomdog Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I tried to key in on Jirecek as much as possible. Early in the game I wasn’t sure he was able to skate backwards as the tv never showed him in that situation. I do think he needs serious work on his skating. Later in the game he did look more comfortable. I agree with crease, he is not the best prospect in the system, but he is very big Right handed which is something the Wild need in the system. 1 Quote
Icechipper Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Good chance Buium, 19, could be in a Wild sweater for the playoffs. Even if his defending NCAA Denver squad is in the Frozen Four in St. Louis Aug. 10-12, the Pioneer sophomore phenom conceivably could be playing in the Wild season finale at home Tuesday April 15. 1 Quote

Unless CBA rules don't allow it, that's exactly what I expect as well. He's plug & play just like Brock Faber was when he left the Golden Gophers. Quote
