hf101
Has Homer completely lost it? If Walker is picked up by another club then half of 1.7M is permanently on our cap for the remainder of the season.http://www.broadstre...adelphia-flyersDigity, we need a new category (Re-entry Waivers)
Irishjim
so who claims him. and if they do thats 850,000 added to the cap
Bertmega
Homer needs to hire a cap guru to help him out. What's next, recall Betts after he passes a physical? If Walker gets claimed we are screwed. The only way this works if......no nevermind this does not work. Is he that frustrated with the 5-6 pairing that he is willing to burn what little cap space they have left?Makes no sense to me.
hf101
so who claims him. and if they do thats 850,000 added to the capAny GM that wants to stick to Holmgren and his FlyersStart with the teams that are at the bottom of the pack first. Holmgren interviewed yesterday stated that many teams are looking to add a defenseman so it would be unrealistic to trade for one. So let us just give them one while we pay for half of it.wtf. Hexy27
There has to be some kind of carrot that is dangling in front of Homer right now. Can we trade Walker while he is in the AHL? Maybe Homer is trying to free up another contract slot (this might be more valuable to him than the cap space)?I have no idea. Just trying to make some sense of this. hf101
Walker would have to clear waivers in order to be traded. Unless Homer is using this as an example of waiver issues that need to be addressed in the new CBA, this is just a throw your hands in the air " what the hell" type move. Why risk a 850k cap hit this year and next for little (if anything, ie. Walker's play) in return?

idahophilly
They really should have left him buried. We CAN'T afford 850K if he's claimed! Homer is smokin' the good stuff again...

Howie58
Howdy:Homer has made a calculated gamble that nobody wants to pay for a banged-up dude who might be respectable with playing time but might not be a bag of pucks either. This is the price we pay for being relieved of Simon Gagne.Best,Howie
sekkes85
Wow, that video just made my day! Can't believe that doesn't have more hits!I'm still scratching my head over this, Walker is by no means worth $1.7 mil but for 850k? Absolutely. AlaskaFlyerFan
I wish the NHL.com had a Transaction page. It would be nice to see the "official" waiver wire.
hf101
tsn.ca has a transaction page but Walker isn't on it, so it might not have the waivers
