AJgoal
I just don't see dressing the heavyweight is a deterrent. Usually it seems that if teams dress a big man in case something happens on the ice, something happens on the ice because of the big man being there. And who does he replace? I personally liked what I saw out of the Flyers yesterday. When the bell needed to be answered, someone did. I mean, Timonen fought. Giroux fought. Hartnell. Simmonds. When the Pens went below the belt, the Flyers aimed high and still came out on top. There's enough muscle on this team to act as a deterrent without bringing in Shelley to skate 4 minutes. Spinorama
they did, actually. the ref's arm goes up right after schenn lays the hit, before asham comes flying in.don't know why, that was a perfectly clean hit to me, but in any case, the call came off the play itself.hmmm,I guess I didn't see the angle that revealed that. Regardless, it doesn't change the point. All too often in this league will the refs not call an initial play but once retaliation occurs, the refs decide to send both parties to the box. The fact that it happens at all, regardless if it is the Flyers playing, is rediculous.
Mad Dog
Okay... here's the plan. During the post game handshake Wednesday night ( this will have to be prepped before hand) look at the Pitt lineup, coordinate the player to player set up and when every Flyer has a Penguin in front of him for the shake... punch him him right in the chops. How awesome would that be!The Flyers have too much class to lower themselves to the level of Pittsburgh. Instead, during the handhsake, the team's captain (or alternative captains, since Pornger is out), should shake Crosby's hand and say, "You didn't deserve to wear a uniform of the NHL team".... and just skate away.
pilldoc
I have mixed feelings...I want Neal's head on a silver platter, however, at what cost?? One of our players being suspended? or further injury to one of our stars? Yes, as mentioned before, we are in all likelyhood moving on, so do we dress Shelly only as a deterrant and not an instigator. Ultimately I would like to embarrass the Pens on the score board. Something to the tune of like 6-2 should do just nice. I think however, a calling card should be sent for next season. How Lavy wants to play that out is up to him. I do think though, if Neal somehow escapes with no suspension, then Crosby / Neal / Malkin better have their head on a swivel. No head-hunting..just clean EXTREMELY HARD checks. Hilarious. Mcguire needs to be off television. He should be replaced with someone who A. has a shred of a personality and B. does not have a love affair with Crosby. Phillygrump
Matt Cooke is also rounding into form after his Lady Byng-worthy season (his unpenalized, dangerous center ice hit on Jagr). Then turn around and call Grossmann on a knee on knee (which it was) but they conveniently missed Cooke's knee on knee attempt on Jagr. When and how did Matt Cooke become invisible by referees and how can Rinaldo buy some of this magic tonic?
terp
I think you dress Shelley just to let the Pens know that any monkey business will be met with swift retaliation.I think dressing Shelly makes them a less effective team and also draws the attention of officials, who will penalize the Flyers just for dressing him even if they don't commit a single infraction. The Flyers did fine in the altercations without Shelly. Given the way the league will focus on the next game and the fact that they are up 3-0, the Flyers are better off taking the high road. mkscrewy
Wednesday we should be totally focused on winning the game. Neal, Asham, Adams, Crosby, Malkin, Orpik will have to hold off until next fall for the retribution and overflowing waves of blood they so richly deserve. canoli
Given the way the league will focus on the next game and the fact that they are up 3-0, the Flyers are better off taking the high road.absolutely. It's a day later and everyone is alright - the Flyers' skaters I mean - so the hell with it. There's plenty of time next year for payback.Win the game, sweep these cheapshot artists right out of the POs. Icing on the cake - Malkin doesn't score ANY goals. So far so good...!

jammer2
Like many Flyer fans, I'm disgusted with some of the Pens actions, but I say....let cooler heads prevail. Keep your eyes on the prize, stay out of the box as much as humanly possible, and let the Pens dig themselves thier own hole....don't retaliate if at all possible. And yeah, just wanted to say, Crosby will never be elite like Gretzky. Wayne never batted gloves or crap like that, he would simply score a goal on the next shift if he got really mad. Wanye = true professional, Sid = little teenaged girl tamtrums. Just glad the rest of hockey is getting to know the real Sid.
doom88
Did anyone else notice in one of those scrums the Flyers bench holding Rinaldo back from leaving the bench? Seems like the Pens only want to start something when he's not on the ice.

I think that was actually Chief holding him back.
