Our D is hard to watch

Why is it that our D thinks every time the puck is in their zone, they act like it's a power play. Why can't for just once, they stand someone up and hit them... why do they back off like they're playing in an all star game.

Are they as bad as they look... or are they coached to play like that?

And to make up for our D the forwards need to learn that you score by actually shooting the puck at the net now and then. <g>. If the O can't make up for the D ( that's not there ), this series is over in game 5.

last two games whole team was hard to watch. The only one that played good was Bryz in first and second period of game 2.

When you get outshoot by the Devils that is a really bad sigh.

Offense was hard to watch as well... seems like everyone is one step behind the Devils. Everytime the Flyers entered the offensive zone with the puck, there are two Devils on that guy and he can't do anything.... happened throughout the game 2 and 3.

The D with the exception of Coburn and a somewhat Grossman(still hurt?) are easy to watch because they never move. Still comes down to the Goalie has to be the best player on the ice. Offense if you continually go ring around the rosie with the net chances are the opposition D and O will get back to set up against you sometimes when you skate in instead of going around the net SHOOT the %$#@&^*puck.

lilja's real achilles heal is that he backs off way too much. i think he/they? are afraid that if they step up, they will get beat by a deek or something. i think the speed of the devils has them on their heals, literally and figuratively.

Our defense in general has not been good, and we certainly dont have a Lundquist/Quick type goalie who can steal a win for us, so its got to be a team effort. One thing for sure, when Gus and Lilja are on the ice ,the Devils must have set a record for puck posseion in our defensive zone. Gus actually has played well, but he needs to be paired with a much more steady veteran to cover up for his inexperience. Lilja is a spot player at best.If gus were paired with a good defensive guy, he would really benefit. This playoff is reminding me of 2 yeas ago when Parent and that other siff Krajeck couldnt clear the zone.

Well I guess we have to go back and remember that this was a "rebuilding" year... at least we have a decent O ( if they would shoot now and then )...

Maybe while the players are playing golf this summer the management will put some effort into the D. They gave away 51 mil on one player... maybe they should now put some money into D men who can keep the puck away from him <g>.
