HockeyFan
It's always been more of a popularity contest than anything -- Remember, Crosby was on the ballot before playing any games this year. (Obviously, he fits the all-star requirements... just one of the pitfalls of "fan" voting...)
Poulin20
Popularity contest or not, Lupul and Michalek are more popular than Giroux leaguewide? It absolutely boggles the mind. Crosby I understand as he is living off of past accomplishments but these other guys? Is Giroux flying under the radar or something, they gush over him in the national media and on NHL newtwork. Lupul plays in Toronto, and Michalek plays for Ottawa. The AS game is in Ottawa this year. Mystery solved.

Poulin20
Whatever it is, its an absolute disgrace and travesty but what else is new in the Buttman NHL?

The system is a joke
Flyingswede
Becouse Alfredsson's history. Spezza becouse that huge hype around him when he joined NHL, it stays with him. Lupul becouse he play in Toronto. Milan Michalek? I have noo idea.Giroux is a flyers player. Thats why. Kind of unknowed and unhyped if you compare to other. mojo1917
well i just voted for G so that guarantees he won't be a starter...
doom88
Simple, everyone go and vote ten times for who you think should be in. Lupul is scoring at a good rate, he deserves to be in. Toronto has a lot of fans and I guess they are doing their part so to speak.
Flyingswede
Is it just votes from fans or is it a jury too?
doom88
Is it just votes from fans or is it a jury too?As far as I know, the NHL sets the ballot, and the fans vote in players.
idahophilly
I like to think Flyers fans have better things to do than sit on NHL.com and voting over and over again... Opps, I'm on a forum so shouldn't be throwing stones i guess...?
doom88
Bluntly, I would be okay if only a few Flyers went to the all-star game. Let them rest up.It only sucks because there are guys who deserve the 'honor' if you will...especially the unheralded Timonen. By the same token, he's exactly the kind of guy who could use the rest. xganarchy
i noticed this last week so i spent about 10 mins (very LONG mins) voting for our Flyers players. Like others mentioned, it's mostly Toronto/Ottawa fans voting to the limit (i think it's like 30 times/day?) for their hometown guys, NOT for those that really deserve it. PhilsFanDrew
Have they been hyping up the voting at home games? It stinks there is only 1 more home game this month. It also hurts to not have hockey friendly local sports radio to put out the word like in Ottawa and Toronto. doom88
I think they changed the voting this year to be ten votes max per person, regardless of platform. Edited December 13, 2011 by doom88
Dynamo 47
Daniel Alfredsson Jason Spezza Joffrey Lupul Milan MichalekAre you NHL fans serious????It's a total joke. But Giroux will rightfully be on the team as well as Jagr. Who could forget the infamous Rory Fitzpatrick voting scandal? http://canesallstars.wordpress.com/Not to mention the controversy with the Canadiens rigging the voting.
