I remember after Hal Gill blocked a Sheldon Sourary slap shot off his leg in Nashville’s second-to-last game of the regular season — mostly because I asked him about it after the game.

“You ever block a shot?” he asked sarcastically. “It hurts.”

We may know how badly.

Montreal Gazette columnist Dave Stubbs tweeted that he recently had lunch with Gill and that Gill said he fractured his tibia. This required a plate and screws being inserted into the leg.

Gill missed all five games of Nashville’s series with Detroit. Gill is slated to be an unrestricted free agent if he and the Predators don’t come to terms before July 1.
