I'm sure Richards is still the resident meth dealer and has the entire team hooked on the sh!t by now. His curse (Memorial Cup champ, Calder Cup champ, Olympic Gold champ and Stanley Cup runner up and likely champ had his gm not sent them into it with the worst goaltending tandem in finals history) at the grand old age of 26 is a burden few should have to live with. We're so fortunate not to have one of the top 2 two way players in the world on our team.

Not sure what you meant but if you live for those minor cups and gold medal then good for you. The Stanley Cup wasn't deliver here and that is the main goal, last season had high hopes and what did he deliver? Half ass play during the 2nd half of the season and getting swept out of the 2nd round. I put it all on him because he was the Captain, I did use to like him but last season I soured on him and am happy as heck at what Homer has done. I give you that he might be the best 2 way player but who cares if he or anyone that is doesn't deliver the goods.

@Vincent05

Richards was a key member of his Memorial Cup team. To win it you go through the same rounds as the Stanley Cup, THEN go into the Memorial Cup Tournament with the other CHL champs. It's a valuable experience for any player.( Ask jammer if he thinks his Spitfires back to back Memorial Cup victories are od value.) He was the 2nd leading scorer in the Calder Cup run. He was part of the best line in hockey in the Gold Medal game. Ya, I value that.

The Stanley may not have been delivered to Philly, but it sure wasn't from lack of effort from Richards who was one of our best players in that playoff. Remember how mediocre Niemi was in net for Chicago, but how he outplayed our tandem? That wasn't Richards fault. If our gm would have addressed the goaltending issue we likely would have a cup in Philly, and a lot of that would be on Richards.

He was a great player for Philly who had a bad year. Who didn't last year? We brought Briere in to win a cup,has he delivered? Has Pronger? (we've got ONE season of hockey out of him so far) Timonen? Hartnell? Have any of them had off years? But that's all Mike Richards fault? LOL

Gotcha, but the year they went to the Finals was a surprise. No one expected they would, last year they were expected to make it there. They had the best record at the break but then flop the rest of the way. Like I said I put it all on Richards because he wore the C, if the owner of the team has given up on you that says something too.

Ya, Richards (along with just about everyone not name Giroux) underachieved last year. He's also overachieved pretty much every other year of his career. The guy wasn't blessed with Prongers size, Reads skating ability, Brieres skillset or Jagrs shot. But through hard work he's become what he is. He still doesn't have size, but hits like a truck. He skating leaves a lot to be desired, but somehow he has plenty of breakaways. He'll never be able to dangle in a phonebooth but he can make great defencemen look bad at times. And until he got hurt he'd scored 9 goals in his last 11 games, and had 3 years where he scored 89 goals prior to his last year here.

I look at his overall career in Philly as a positive. I don't get all the hate for the guy.

I started hating him because of his lack of hustle during the 2nd half of the year. Also how he handle the media and rumors of the split locker room, I know it's just rumors but it looks true to me when you add it all up. When you are a leader, you need to bring your A game as much as possible. I know it's hard to do every game but do you think last years 2nd half team would've done what this team did in the past 2 weeks by comming back from 3 goal deficits to win? I doubt it, I know it's early but this team has shown much more fight then that team. If Richards didn't have the C, I wouldn't care what he did just like the rest of the team. I hate Carter too but not complaining about him as he wasn't expected to be a leader like Richards was. Overall I just love the youth and hunger of this team right now and glad we moved on from them.

Richy is going to be pi$$ed. I thought the Kings would be fighting it out for 1st place all year wrong

Terry Murray could be on his way out as the Los Angeles Kings head coach. The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources, reported Sunday night that the Kings may fire Murray this week due to subpar results this season.

The Kings have lost four in a row, scoring only six goals in the process, and have fallen to 12th in the Western Conference with 30 points on a 13-12-4 record. They begin a four-game road trip Tuesday in Boston.

The Times' report says the Kings have not yet found a replacement for Murray, but assistant coach John Stevens, who was the head coach in Philadelphia from 2006-09, might be asked to become interim coach. However, the report also says that Stevens is not viewed as a long-term candidate because of his similarities to Murray, including the fact that both coached together in Philadelphia as well.

Los Angeles picked up Mike Richards and Simon Gagne in the offseason, but it hasn't found any type of offensive rhythm. The Kings are averaging a League-worst 2.21 goals per game and are on pace for just 181 goals this season.

Star defenseman Drew Doughty, who missed training camp on a contract holdout, has just 2 goals, 8 points and a minus-4 rating in 24 games. Anze Kopitar hasn't scored a goal in the last eight games.

Flyers winning in that trade as we are #1 in scoring. Has Richards been exposed for what he really is a good 3rd liner at best?

So why don't you hate on all the others who lacked hustle in the 2nd half of the season? Briere lacks hustle most of the regular season every year and gets paid more than Richards. Hartnell can look like the worst player in the NHL many nights. Pronger has given us ONE good season and is gonna be paid for FIVE more. If you look up the term hustle in the dictionary is there a photo of JVR?

Could last years team come back from 3 goal deficits? I guess not. I doubt they would lose to Winnipeg 9-8 either. Can this years team make the finals? This years version doesn't look like it's missing Richards scoring. And that's great. But it sure is missing his defensive game, and come playoffs, that becomes a lot bigger issue than beating Tampa 5-2 or losing to Winnipeg 9-8 in regular season games. Tell me how many players gave more for the Flyers over the last 5 years?

I love what I'm seeing from some of the young players on this team. Other than some really bad contracts that we're stuck with forever and will likely be what keeps this team good but never great, the future is bright. But when I look back over the last 5 or 6 years of the Flyers, Mike Richards is one of the biggest highlights IMO. I just don't get why people have to take cheapshots at him everytime he's mentioned. There's yet another thread started about the same topic with yet another knife in the guys back. Where were you guys when he had the team on his back in the playoffs? When he set the record for most shorthanded 5 on 3 goals? When he was using his smaller than average NHL frame to throw devastating checks, or going toe to toe in a fight with someone to inspire his team?

And hey Vincent, no offence is intended personally here, this is a broad statement.

None taken, I guess we all have our likes and dislikes.

He's been hurt but i view Richards as a Michael Peca version with a little better offensive ability. I don't see the superstar in him that some of you see, just a good 2 way player.

Saddled with a four-game losing streak and the lowest-scoring offense in the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings fired coach Terry Murray on Tuesday, replacing him on an interim basis with assistant coach John Stevens.

The Kings, who are in Boston where they will begin a four-game road trip on Tuesday, have fallen to 12th in the Western Conference with 30 points on a 13-12-4 record.

After two straight seasons of making the playoffs, expectations around the team were raised this summer when general manager Dean Lombardi traded for center Mike Richards and signed free-agent forward Simon Gagne. The Kings, though, haven't found any type of offensive rhythm. They're averaging a League-worst 2.21 goals per game and are on pace for just 181 goals this season.

Star defenseman Drew Doughty, who missed training camp on a contract holdout, has just 2 goals, 8 points and a minus-4 rating in 24 games. Leading scorer Anze Kopitar hasn't scored a goal in the last eight games.

And Richards, who leads the team with 11 goals, has missed the last four games with a head injury and did not accompany the team to Boston.

The 61-year-old Murray, who previously held head coaching positions with Washington, Philadelphia and Florida, took over behind the Los Angeles bench for the 2008-09 season. The Kings finished fifth, but improved from 79 to 101 points in Murray's second season and had 98 points last season.

Murray becomes the fifth coach to be replaced since the beginning of the 2011-12 season, following Davis Payne in St. Louis, Bruce Boudreau in Washington, Paul Maurice in Carolina and Randy Carlyle in Anaheim.

Vincent - it's on Murray not Richards. Me thinks Lavi would have that Kings squad on top of the standings and GF. Kings got thoroughbreds trained as fillies

I was only kidding about the Richards curse. They were a good young team last year with high expectation for this season like the Flyers last year. I know it's still early in the season but with Richards and Gagne added they were suppose to be better but look at where they are at now with Richards.....Just makes you think.

Maybe their roster ain't all that. I think it could be with a coach not trying to get past a 95 Devils squad. Penner's been the bust. Billboards litter the streets that 'Time is Now', turned out to be Hammer Time.

I guess learning the news that the Kings were imminent to signing Suter as the new head coach, Stevens said f**k it and told the boys to take the night off because the new bench boss was brining his whip!

They lost 8-2 to detroit.
