bernardmarcel1
Per Carchidi: http://mobile.philly.com/sports/?wss=/philly/sports&id=135449388&deliver=iphone&c=yClearly this means he *is* experiencing concussion symptoms no matter what Homer's party line is.WTF - not good... FlyersFan4Life
All things I think he will be fine. Tim P just tweeted and Roo stated he was feeling good but will not travel with the team next 2 games. that was just tweeted 20 mins ago
brelic
That just blows. I'd love to see Giroux not miss a beat... but I'd much prefer to see him have a long career in Philly BTW, Crosby is out indefinitely.
bernardmarcel1
I hope so of course, FF4L - but keeping him out for a whole week is way worse than I was hoping for. Better to err on the side of caution with a head injury, certainly...
bernardmarcel1
@ brelic / "Crosby is out indefinitely"Wow. That totally blows my mind right now. I hate that little prick, but holy crap thats gotta be almost a season's worth of games missed??Makes me even more nervous about G (& especially after reading that NYT article on Boogaard / long term effects of head injuries to athletes).Best case scenario is maybe (**shudder**) Homer & the Flyers staff are beginning to learn their lesson & are just being ultra cautious with G. Crossing fingers & praying to the hockey gods it's nothing serious...

Crossing fingers & praying to the hockey gods it's nothing serious...Well, that's the thing with indefinitely... it sounds scary, but it really just means they have no idea. There's no timetable for his return. It could be a week, could be a year.I honestly don't remember a time in the NHL where there were so many concussions. Maybe they're just better at diagnosing them, or the threshold is lower, but man, it's a little crazy. We have 3 just on our team this year. flyercanuck
Ya you used to "have your bell rung" and you'd get back out as soon as you could. Now they know better. Having bigger, stronger, faster players isn't lessening the effects anytime soon either.
FlyersFan4Life
it was confirmed today Crosby is out with another concussion. I think his season is over worse yet his career is really in serious jeopardy
doom88
On the bright side (yes there is one), Lavy looks to be turning to Couturier to fill in Giroux's spot temporarily. Let's (hopefully) see the rookie flourish!http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inqflyersreport/Couturier-replaces-Giroux-on-Flyers-top-line.html
bernardmarcel1
NHL Network reported tonight on "On The Fly" that G's injury is "whiplash" - not a concussion...we'll see.

I'd love to see Giroux not miss a beat... but I'd much prefer to see him have a long career in Philly BTW, Crosby is out indefinitely.I think they are just being cautious with Giroux which is understandable. Saw that about Crosby. Kind of sucks as he might very well be done.
