jammer2
Wow, 4.5 mill a year for Brad Marchand.....really, really nice deal for the Bruins. One of the very best bangs for the buck in the entire NHL IMHO. This guy is a winner, pure and simple. Coming off a career high 28 goals, his totals are going to go up, up, up from here. Especially when considering he is playing on a line with Tyler Seguin. I don't think 35 goals is out of the question for the fiesty winger next year....if there is one. Nice article on the signing... http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Ty-Anderson/Brat-Pact-Marchand-signs-four-year-18-million-extension/141/46450
jammer2
Found this paragraph interesting.....Bruins are headed for cap hell....big time. Part of the price of winning it all I guess. They will deal talent for picks and get deeper I would imagine." Yet, like anything in a cap-world, it's not all rosy for Marchand and the Bruins after this extension. Eating up a significant $4.5 million off Boston's books for the next four years, the confirmed signing leaves the Bruins with just under $24.6 million left to sign notable guys like restricted free agents Tyler Seguin, Milan Lucic, projected No. 1 goaltender Tuukka Rask, and Jordan Caron along with key unrestricted free agents Nathan Horton, Andrew Ference, and even potential darkhorse backup goaltender Anton Khudobin. The harsh reality for the Bruins is that it's going to be borderline impossible to keep everyone in town, even with a cap that'd stay at 70 million dollars, and that's something Chiarelli and the Bruins know." A nice problem to have.....and Dougie Hamilton has not even hit the pro ice yet...wow!

jammer2
@OzFlyer I wonder if the new CBA would do away with the over 35 rule...that would help them out considerably....but even if the rule changes, I doubt it would affect a current contract...but ya never know.
