INJURY UPDATE: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren on (D) Erik Gustafsson: "Erik underwent wrist surgery this morning at Methodist Hospital. The surgery was performed by Dr. Randy Culp. We expect Erik to be out of action for six (6) weeks.”

Can Schenn play D? ;-)

I KNEW there was something wrong with his wrist several games ago when I saw him rubbing it on the bench. This sucks. He was coming along.

That sucks. They have one decent prospect on defense in the whole system, and he gets ****ed up.

totally sucks! I was looking forward to watching our first D prospect actually grow into a defensemen that we'd all be talking positively about. Hopefully he repairs quickly and doesn't miss a step when he gets back

That was from a slash too, if I remember correctly. We're not too far from some NHL gm meetings about slashes, it's been nasty this year.

Just listening to CSN TP in particular, .....wonder why the Flyers are reluctant to putting Gustafsson on LTIR so they can bring up another defenseman?

If a defenseman goes down, their options are to send someone to the phantoms, put someone on waivers, or put Gustafsson on LTIR

Unless there is a trade in the works?

If thinking about the big picture here, something has to be be in the works with Schenn nearing a return also.

Gus is about a week away from playing, Homer says. #Flyers

Good news, let him come back and take Marshall spot. Let's see if he can handle the workload before we make big changes to the defense. I wanna see him play more before we trade for another dman.

How long was he out?Why did it take so long to decide on Surgery? Time to evaluate the care givers on this team and get somebody who knows the human body. JMO

This is actually an improvement over recent history. Richards played an entire season on a wrist that needed surgery, and Pronger had to ask for every test in the book before the docs found out what Pronger knew about his knee.
