Couturier is GARBAGE!

I really think Sean would benefit from some targeted weight training, he could use his "man weight" 10 more lbs mostly upper body so his frame is strong as well as large.

Look he's not Hartnell like with his skating, his top end is NHL player , the thing I see is he takes too long to achieve it.

He can (and look) must do some things to improve his explosiveness, again, there are sports trainers who make a fine living improving athlete's mechanics and strengthening the muscles for a specific activity.

He's going to be a good NHL player, I hope it is for us and if it isn't I hope it's because we got our #1 d-man for the next 12 years for him.

@flyercanuck I thought I was fair in pointing out the specific flaws of both players, maybe I was to tough on Coots because he is a lot younger than Cam, so hard to get an accurate comparision, esp when factoring in age and positon difference. I do think it's fair to say regardless of age, the lustre has come off both kids, but for me anyways, bad pts produciton can be overcome, skating....that's a lot tougher to overcome. Just as disturbing is how lost he looks during a lot of pk shifts, I think that can be corrected quite easily, so not to worried about that. Fowler for Coots would be a pretty good trade, both have obvious flaws and both are still relitively young, esp when factoring in it takes longer to "get it" than forwards.

@flyercanuck Really? I have them about equal, but Cam is an intregal part of one of the best defense's in the league, and has a 0 plus minus, despite haivng only 5 pts (got an assist last night....wooohooo!!).....that says a lot, teams don't score on the Ducks when he is on the ice. He's 99th in the league in minutes played, that does not parlay into a pp specialist IMHO....I think your underestimating his abitlity to lug the puck up the ice with intelligence. That's the very skill we lost when Carle left, so he would be a nice fit. The kid is a wonderful skater.

I've always liked Fowler too. At 21, he already has 3 seasons under his belt... and he showed in his rookie season that he can put the points up. It would almost seem like a JVR/Schenn trade, where each player is currently struggling and could benefit from a change.

Couturier's biggest problem imo is simply the fact that he's stuck in the role of defensive specialist and is playing with 3rd and 4th line wingers. Given the opportunity I believe he will produce good numbers offensively. Not Crosby type numbers but 60-70 pt kind of numbers. He'll be fine, but he may well have to be fine on another team.

@brelic " It would almost seem like a JVR/Schenn trade, where each player is currently struggling and could benefit from a change."

That's why I proposed the trade, the are both good players who have some flaws to their game right now. We need a d-man, they are desperate for center depth. Couts could fill right in if Koivu were to retire or get demoted due to slowing down etc.

I see future 50 point seasons for Cam. Now would be the time to strike, while he is in this horrid slump. I would not have suggested Fowler for Coots a year ago, actually, I would have laughed at the suggestion....but the truth is, Coots is not nearly as valuable as last year, his value took a huge hit when his skating problems came to light, or at least IMHO. I would do this trade now, because Fowlers value will never be this low, and Coot's value is decreasing while I type.

Well make it happen...Coots labors when he skates or better yet labors to skate...SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although..........i'm contenent to just ride it out this season and retool in the offseason....

@OccamsRazor His skating has been so bad, wonder if there is an injury there are not disclosing, letting him play through it.....who knows?

Yeah, there is something amiss with him, we'd have seen this last year and we had more opportunity to sleuth it out, his minutes and responsibilities haven't changed that much from last year, and tonite vs the rangers he was pretty bad.

Huh he did say YES...it's Weber that said no!

You must be new around these parts!!!! <_<

Dude...You are DEAD wrong......I may be new around these parts, but been a Flyers fan since '70.....

Nashville"s GM asked for either Couts or Schenn, plus some goodies we could afford to throw in....and it would be a done deal.....Paulie nixed it...

Weber signed the monster offer sheet!!!!.......Duh.....he was pissed at going back to Nash.....

This is the kind of nonsense that will have half of this idiotic fan base saying "OMGZOR WHY DID WE TRADE HIM, WE GGIVE UP TOOOOO EARLY ON OUR YOUTHZ!!!"

Love the Flyers but the fan base has grown to infuriate me. HE IS TWENTY YEARS OLD, 20! Let the kid grow and develop!
