Polaris922
http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_news.htm?id=663229Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman talked about looking for depth guys to bolster his roster with the trade deadline approaching. He reportedly got one by acquiring veteran center Michal Handzus from the San Jose Sharks, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. The Sharks reportedly will receive a fourth-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft in return.Handzus, who is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent following the season, has only two points and is a minus-9 in 28 games this season. However, Handzus is winning better than 55 percent of his faceoffs, a key need for the Blackhawks, who are 18th in the League in faceoffs at 49.9 percent. yave1964
Not much left in the tank, and frankly I think it takes valuable minutes away from the kids.

yave1964
Maybe just a veteran presence should Hossa not return?I wouldn't think so, personally. Hossa leads by example, by scoring his 40ish goals a year and playing his rear off. Handzus at this point in his career is fodder at best. flyercanuck
@yave1964 Maybe just to let the fans yell "ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!!"?
jammer2
Seriously, I'm shocked Zeus is still in the league. He was total molases with the Flyers years back, and much worse now. I think his face off skills and hard work have kept him around.
yave1964
He is a veteran presence, every team needs those type of players, and a good backchecker, solid character guy that every club needs. My only problem, is Chicago has veterans who have been there done that and so many young forwards chomping at the bit for playing time. Same with Carcillo. Every team needs one, but he is wasting a roster space that a kid could be using.
flyercanuck
@yave1964 Chicago sees itself as a likely contender. Handzus is just more depth. It's a long tough ride to the finals
