Mario99
Watching him skate this guy can fly, reminds me a little bit of Steven Stamkos the way he handles himself around the net, a little small at 6-0 185 where Stamkos is like 6-1 200 lbs
Jmdodgesrt4
What worries me if we finish say second overall and jones is picked up first does homer grab him or another winger and not fix our back end.

fishbulb
imo Mckinnon's game transfers beautifully to the NHL b/c of his style of play.... straight ahead. He's meat and potatoes with a bit of spice and that still works at the NHL level. And yes, of course they take the next best player.. ie) Drouin or Mckinnon. You don't take a #5/6 pick like Nurse if you are in the #2-3 spot. Drafting a rookie D-man is not going to "fix" our blueline. It'll need more than that. You only take Nurse or another d-man if you're at the 4-6 spot or you've traded down.
aziz
@fishbulbYup. As much as I hope the flyers pick up a difference maker in this draft, the reality is that difference won't likely be felt for years. You take the highest value available when your turn comes up, whether it fills an immediate need or not.Trading down is always an option, though. Phillygrump
I have to think if you have a crack at Mckinnon you take it. If he is a superstar you need to lock it in. The Flyers are starved for scoring these days as much as anything else. I know defense is terrible but this isn't a situation where its a one year fix. If they are going to try and build something they need to get in that top 3 and take the best player available.
Phillygrump
And then when he doesn't become an immediate star they can ship him to another team for an overpriced aging veteran defenseman.Eff I just remembered the nature of my team. doom88
I'd consider trying to trade down from 2 to 4, depending on the rest of the deal.
fishbulb
We don't have to worry about #1-3 spot unfortunately..... that 4 game win streak pretty much screwed us. There's no way we 'outsuck' the canes, avs, etc. We'll probably end up with the 4-7 spot.
doom88
I'm sure there's a Sasha Grey reference in there somewhere.

TimKerrFan12
MacKinnon is a super strong skater and strong on the puck and has puck skills. I have seen him give quite a few heavy checks. He is not afraid of the rough play.

flyercanuck
If you think MacKinnon or Drouin are the 2nd best pick you take them .The only way you trade down is if you think theres a player below who's better on your board. Whatever you get for moving down a couple of spots likely won't make up for not taking the 2nd best player. If we took MacKinnon we could then trade a center for a Dman.
