filly4life
I've seen a lot of bad Philadelphia teams, but this years Flyers team is probably the most difficult to watch. Supposedly they have all this talent (especially on offense) and then they just go into stretches of games where they look Mites On Ice-ish, stumbling over themselves unable to even get the puck into the offensive zone. And don't even start my on Bryz. In fact our entire goalie situation for the past 2-3 decades has been just comical. Watching this Buffalo game is like a summary of our season. Offense looks lost/dead. Mason plays amazingly for 40 minutes and then gives up the softest, WTF goal... But I give credit to Buffalo there as well. They shot the puck, it went wide, took a bounce and went in off MAson's skate. IF that was in the otehr end of the ice, the Flyers would have never even thrown the puck at the net. They would have tried at least 405 more passes and inevitably flubbed one of them and not have gotten a single shot. And Enroth is schooling us. So that's what it looks like to have a goalie stand on their heads...?
doom88
At least it's a short season.
Poulin20
I am not sure how far back you go but some of those early 90s teams (especially pre-Lindros but even post Lindros) were downright putrid and were harder to watch than this version if you can believe that.
filly4life
Yeah but those teams had no talent. We supposedly have all these 20+ goal scorers and can't put up 2 goals in any of the last 4 games... Those pre-Lindros teams had no expectations.
mojo1917
@filly4lifei agree with you about these guys, i was trying to defend their play a month ago, when people were saying they can't take or make a pass and I poo-poohed the doubters saying their NHL players should the really be working on passing drills ?those guys were right, this team is hard to watch, barely NHL level, i don't recall a team that has had more pucks skip over blades on the rush and on the breakout than these guys, it's like they're all playing too fast, like when a guy gets out of control on the basketball court. thank goodness it is a short season and these guys are young, this will be a year of growth and hopefully they'll be better next year, there is talent on the team, at least that's what the scouting reports and draft positions say. maybe they just needed this year to grow into it. flyerrod
Mason plays amazingly for 40 minutes and then gives up the softest, WTF goal...The shot takes a fluky bounce off the back wall and then Mason's skate and you call it a soft goal? I gotta call bull$ht on that. Mason keep that game close with several two on one break away stops too. If Bryz had been in the score would have been more like 4-0 Buffalo. Guys that played well today, Mason, Lauridsen, Huskins, Gustafsson, and Schenn even though he made a couple of terrible turnovers. The forwards, not so much. Every single one of them are squeezing the sticks hard enough to shatter them. NOBODY wanted to take a shot until the last minute and a half of the game. That was one of the quietest hockey games I have ever watched. It flowed like a frozen pond......
trevluk
and then gives up the softest, WTF goal...how on earth do you blame that goal on Mason?? It was a fluke goal. It happens.
