ctid
I guess almost every year a highly touted prospect drops much further than anticipated. Guys that come to mind are:coots obviously, to 8thAdam Larsson (only to 4th, but it was still a surprise)Filip forsberg to 11thCherepanov (RIP) went into completely freefallVladimir Tarasenko, think he went 16th in 2010, he was rated the 2nd best european prospect behind granlund who was taken 9th i believePaarjavi went 10th in 2009, rated second best european behind HedmanTyler Myers went 12thFrolik went 10th, again rated 2nd best european skateThere are probably a lot more and a lot better examples out there. But somebody always drops. Just thinking, since we might end up picking 8-12, one of those yearly "droppers/freefallers" might fall into our lap.According to recent trend it will be the 2nd best rated european, meaning a Barkov/Nicushkin. Who do you guys think it will be?Also, on the flip side. in order for a top rated to drop, a mid/lower rated guy must be picked WAY WAY in advance....I'm thinking Risto will go before it's our turn. I could easily picture a scenario where it's our turn and Jones (obviously), Nurse, Risto are gone and we are left with Monahan, Barkov/nicushkin, zadorov, lindholm.Idunno, I'm bored, nothing exciting except for the draft. flyercanuck
Well my guess is if Nichushkin was anything else but Russian he would probably go higher than I think he will. I think Barkov is long gone before we draft.
TimKerrFan12
@flyercanuck Yeah....what is the chances the big Russian drops to us? I would take a chance on him. Of course u have the KHL crap that would probably insue, but it would be worth the hassle IMO.
flyercanuck
@TimKerrFan12If he does drop to us (it's possible) you'd have to take him. He'd be the BPA and not even close.
EDI-Flyer
you'd have to take himYou would and I would... Whether Homer and "Mr Snider" would is of course entirely another matter . Given their pathological distrust of anything not Scandi/North American I don't know if they would. Of course Bryz doesn't really help the perception of Russians as being potentially flaky
flyercanuck
@EDI-FlyerWell in all fairness there is a long list of Russians who have come over solely for the purpose to cash in and not give their employer their moneys worth. Bryz just put an exclamation mark on it. We're a win out of falling to the 13th pick. It would be crazy for 12 teams to pass on his talent. Crazier things have happened though. fan4ever
What's nice is that we don't have to wait 'forever' to find out when we'll be picking!!!Hopefully the balls will fall in our favor and then we can just discuss 'who we'll be picking first"
