doom88
Actually, maybe. Does anyone here think #10 and #11 gets you into the top three, possibly with a modest package added? That could yield a very fast rebuild for the team collecting the two first round picks. Alternatively, the Flyers could trade down/out of #11 depending on that return.I wouldn't dismiss that deal too quickly. I might even try to counter sending the second rounder with a roster player instead (Mesz?) I like Couturier, but no one is really off limits. pensuck
@ doomI'm bummed about Williams then. It should translate to a 5-7 win season. How r the ravens looking?
doom88
@ doomI'm bummed about Williams then. It should translate to a 5-7 win season. How r the ravens looking? That was a different thread, but this aside works since I read this forum multiple times a day...Ravens look surprisingly good on paper considering the exodus and the "experts" at ESPN proclaiming them dead months ago. I'm cautiously excited, but one key injury is the difference between making the playoffs or watching them on tv. In Oz We Trust (Ozzie Newsome, GM, Baltimore Ravens).---The original thread here has me really intrigued though. No way I take it straight up, but in combination it could prove very interesting. What do you guys think?Seen that on a certain site as well and I'll pass again on that. Not willing to give up a high pick and Couturier for a defenseman that really doesn't impress me. Dallas got fleeced in that trade with Pittsburgh

OH1FlyersFan
I actually had Goligoski on my fantasy team this season, so that by no means makes me an expert on the guy. But, I did follow his play and his stats pretty closely over this last season. In my opinion he'd be an improvement over most of whom we currently have on defense, but didn't do anything that overly impressed me. His stats were good but not great. He's a solid defender and didn't hurt my team but he wasn't carrying it either. I'd stand pat with Couts and not make the trade. Couts is what only 20 or 21. Goli is pushing 30. The upside on Couts, assuming he gets past his sophomore slump and can find his game again - which I believe he will do - is huge. He'll be better for this team long-term if we have the patience to hold him and teach him, than Goli would have for the next couple of seasons. Keep Couts. Dallas got fleeced in that trade with PittsburghMy advice on Gogo for you guys would come from Monty Python, "RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY".Not that Gogo is a bad player, but he is limited defensively. That was one of the reasons the Pens decided to let him go, they had enough soft defenders at the time. He's great at moving the puck up ice, and has good vision on the point of the power play, but he a very small defenseman who couldn't even move Briere out of the crease(I'm sorry, I could not resist). But at a $4.6M cap hit, I would think you could do better. As for the Pens fleeching the Stars, it depends on your view. Now in retrospect it was a great deal for the Pens. But at the time, the Stars could not afford to keep Neal around, so they had to do something to help their team instead of losing him for nothing, which at the time needed defensive help. So what this was about was Neal for Goliogoski. Niskanen was basically a salary dump for them. He had worn out his welcome down there and was not playing anywhere near the level that he could. At the time in Dallas, many thought we did them a favor taking Niskanen off their hands. Who'd have thunk he would turn it around with the Pens.
