When are trades allowed? Buy out is 48 hours after finals so is that when the league opens its offseason schedule ? Or is it open on draft day for the first time ?

When are trades allowed?

Trades are allowed right now i down think there is a period where you can't trade...Nashville traded the other day....but the buyouts don't start till 48 hours after the Cup.

I think Homer wants to see who is out there too from buy outs before he makes some crazy trade...could have a influence on what he does.

I can see why the NHL GM's wanted to shift the FA period to after the draft. It makes pefect sense actually. For instance, if you draft a nice RW, he might not make your team this year, but it might stop you from commiting to another RW for a long contract. It makes more sense to draft first, and then fill in your roster with FA's based on long term need. After all, who you select in the draft is supposed to be best player available, so you would not draft based on need, but it does give you the ability to project your roster and sign a FA (or not) based on need.

It makes pefect sense actually.

Trading Mezz should be the next step even if it's just for a 19th round pick...his 4 mill could be put to better use...ie towards resigning G.

Mezz is just a injury away from being dead weight again.
