Record this season?

After a very interesting off season and wondering who will make the big club. I'm interested to hear what everyone's realistic expectations are this year. I'm thinking a 5th or 6th place finish is realistic.

We'll see. Boston and the rangers got a whole lot murkier this summer. Pittsburgh, as always, could go either way. Caps are a mess, are the isles for real, which way do the habs go, what are the senators going to be about, the debbies are probably going to be terrible but who can tell with them, etc etc etc.

I can't predict where anyone is going to end up. The flyers? Anywhere from first through tenth. Quite a limb I'm going out on, huh?

It's tough to gauge, considering how important the records of other divisional opponents will be. Since the top 3 teams in each division are guaranteed a spot, the Flyers are competing for one of 5 playoff spots as opposed to one of 6 under the previous format.

Right now, I feel it is a given that Boston, Montreal, Pittsburgh, NYR, and Detroit make it under the new format. After that, who knows? I think TBL are out. Ditto the Devils, Florida, Buffalo, and Carolina. Which means the Flyers are competing with Columbus, Washington, Tronno, Islanders, and Ottawa for the last 3 spots. Good chances if the team plays like it did at the end of the season, but the new format and realignment is too much of a wildcard to make a good prediction on where they fall in the playoffs.

I say they go 46-33-3 for 95 points, though.

What a hard prediction to make... considering the question marks in net and on the blueline... I think we're 7th or 8th.

hell i don't even know what division or conference / flight we play in anymore.

i'm too lazy to look now.

but i think this flyers team is a 90-95 point team, does that get us into the playoffs under the new regiggeration of the divisions ? who knows, it should put them close to a wildcard at least. 6-8 in the conference.

If healthy, as opposed to recent history, this team should steamroll the division. Only Pit marginally worries me.

87 to 90 points at the most. Well we shall see the new devision points needed to make a playoff. It's all unknown at this point.

If Tavares ever went down to injury, the Isles would be screwed. Every point by Matt Moulson (except one) in the last 2 years has come with Tavares on the ice. Nielson is strictly a defensive center, and although Ryan Stome will have a nice rookie year, that's to much pressure on him. They are super reliant on Tavares, he goes down for any length of time, that team is toast.

This upcoming season is going to be hard to gauge as there are questions in net, the health of the defense, and consistent scoring.

I think best case scenario we can finish as high as 2nd or 3rd in the division IF: Hartnell scores 30, Mason gives at least 45 quality starts with a save percentage over 91%, the defense stays healthy and Vinny gets 75 - 80 points.

Realistically I think 5th or 6th is where we finish. All of the teams have some question marks and pluses and minuses. I don't figure the Bruins to drop off much. Do the Pens rebound after essentially going "All In" and falling short? Were the Canadians and Leafs one season wonders?

Regardless there are no gimme games anymore with Colombus greatly improved, the Leafs, making the playoffs, the Isles getting stronger, and adding traditional powerhouse Detroit to the East makes it even harder.

Yep, I think the only way we can guess rankings really is by the Division orders.
