Watching Leafs vs Pens rookies on Leafs tv...

 Ah, yes....it is back. My first hockey fix of the year. A pretty spirited affair, as you might imagine. Not really paying a lot of attention, just have it on in the back ground, but if anyone has specific questions on players, I'm willing to re-watch it if it's really important to them. It's a few hours of my life gone, but I figure it's a cool thing to offer. Good karma even..lol.

 It's 2-2 right now near the end of the second. Hartzell got caught down and out and one of the Rupert twins roofed it over him. There has been two fights, Devane and Broll for the Leafs, didn't recognize the Pens fighters, but again, can rewatch if anyone really needs to know. Harrington scored on a point shot that deflected off Stuart Percy's foot. That Gibson kid started for the Leafs, he played ok, but the d allowed a lot of second and third shots, one of which found the back of the net.

  OK, just got done watching the 3rd. . Some thoughts....

 Hartzell goes down to easy, he'll have to work on that, but VERY impressed with his quickness. This guy is lightning fast.

 Biggs had a good game, drove the net hard and his skating looks like it improved. Best Pens forward was Megna. He was involved around the net all night and scored once. Really super impressed with Percy and Matt Finn, two highly thought of Leafs d-men. Did not notice Granberg much, but in his case, that is a good thing, terrific skater btw.

 I can't imagine many Pens forward prospects being better than Khunackle. Spitfire biased aside, this kid is super smart and along with the nice offense is very good in his own end. Just a nice gritty all round solid prospect. He scored a nice goal to tie it with a few seconds left.

 Leafs top pick Gauthier drove the net well, but did not look overly dynamic. Harrington played a nice solid two way game, very poised. I'm convinced he will be in the NHL someday. Devane and Broll are locks for the Marlies, both had a nice physical presence, they did nothing to hurt their chances. Spits invitee Murphy did not look out of place, but odds are really stacked against him. As expected, the Rupert boys were all over the ice. Matta did not stand out, but did not look out of place either.

 Second game in a row the Leaf kids gave up a lead late and both times it lead to a shootout.  They did the same thing against the Hawks kids yesterday. Probably the two NHL teams with the deepest prospect depth on defense, and it showed.

 Gibson robbed Matta from in close to preserve the tie. My DVR stopped recording with 2 mins left in OT, so I'll have to find out the end result elsewhere....lol.

@Polaris922

Hey Polaris,

Do you remember the show "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" back in the 90s?     The theme song of the show was by a group named "Polaris."

It made me wonder (again...I've wondered before) where your screen name comes from.  Care to share?

You really wanna know?   LOL

When I was in the military, I spent time as a security specialist in a nuclear weapons area.  The installation also did weapons maintenance for the Department of Energy, the Navy, and foreign allied powers.  Well, the Navy had dropped a shipment of Polaris II missiles off for some kind of maintenance.  I was horsing around with them, playing 1941 sitting on top of one, when someone asked me for a "handle" for an online identity for something we were doing at the time.  My mind was blank really...  and the first thing that came to mind was between my legs.   LOL
