murraycraven
People are debating about Cleary and Gagne... Homer is an ass and never does anything right... Giroux wraps a golf club around a tree and hurts his hand... Morin is said to be looking good and tough at camp... Hal Gill entered the skatezone using a walker... Pods will be posting more regularly and Rad might get excited! Its all here boys... hockey camp is under way and we now have things to debate and talk about. Let's drop the puck already!

murraycraven
@murraycraven Cry me a river...you get to see the Flyers! LOLYes... well there is that! At least you get to watch the games man... I have to watch the TV listings like crazy to make sure I can catch a Jr game on TV. Although, NCAA is starting to get a lot of airtime which is great. flyercanuck
@murraycraven The thing I love about junior is it's cheap, I can go to a game and be home (if I want) in 3 hours counting travel, every seat is good and most players haven't got huge heads yet. But cost is the best thing. Up here Leaf tickets are crazy expensive. I can practically go to an entire seasons worth of Colts home games for the same price as ONE Leaf game (not counting beer of course). The priving is always an issue and it is sad... I cant take my kid to see a Flyers game w/out paying a small fortune... Luckliy, we have a minor league (ECHL) team nearby and it is family friendly in terms of pricing... the hockey is decent but at least it is hockey to watch.. In regards to the jr games I find they are 100 times better live than on tv. Find it a little boring to watch on tv to be honest. The generals arena is less than 10 min from my place, for $20. a ticket it can't be beat. I can actually afford the food and stuff there. flyercanuck
@murraycraven Leaf tickets are the most expensive in the league. They're always sold out so you have to go the scalper route. Throw in parking, gas, dinner, whatever you buy at the game...I finally decided (especially with the product Toronto was icing) it just wasn't worth $4-500 for a night out. murraycraven
@FC... Holy SHART! That is outrageous... I thought the Flyers were outrageous but that is just ridiculous. For the Leafs!? LOL! I was actually thinking about taking a trip up there with the wife next year to see a game and check out the city but that is too much. I am only guessing here but it is probably like the WFC these days and most people there are the suits. I really miss the days of the Spectrum, and truth be told, cant stand the WFC. It is too quiet and the atmosphere is too "clinical" - for a lack of better description. I still remember my Dad taking me to my first hockey game (begrudingly, bc he was not a hockey fan) at the Spectrum when I was a kid and the place was bonkers. I also remember going to see the Sixers during the playoffs w/ my Dad during the 82-83 championship run. I was a young kid but remember it like yesterday... Man I miss that place... I love the old hockey stadiums and wish the corporate/business side was less of a factor these days but it is what it is...
flyercanuck
@murraycraven Ya, the ACC is half full of sushi eating- candyfloss latte' martini drinking - Blackberry/iPhone addicted "ya, I'm at the game but don't know the score" suits. Corporations have taken the soul out of the NHL arena in most cases..
murraycraven
@FC... No doubt... I prefer the drunk, blue collar hockey fan in my arena!
jammer2
@Leach27 The last time I was at at game in Oshawa was about 20 years ago. What a quaint little arena that was, not a bad seat in the house! I know they have a brand new one since I was there, I hear it's pretty nice also. Kingston's arena was also very small, and much older, the bar had 2 little rickety wooden tables and some 8 smallish looking unsturdy chairs....ha ha. The most modern arena I visited was Peterborough, although I found it odd that the only had seats on one side of the arena. It was one long Spitfires roadtrip I went on, and all the arena's had one thing in common, an overwhelming feeling that generations had visited and enjoyed these places. Canadiana at it's finest I'd say.

I saw a jr game there a few years ago and saw team canada vs russia. Seen a lot of john tavares, del zotto, laughton. When I lived in quinte area I saw quite a bit on The Belleville Bulls, cousins and subban brothers. I almost forget was at GM centre for Lindros night, was really cool to see BIG E there, lots of fans in o&b that night!
jammer2
@Leach27 I plan on going on another roadtrip with the Spits eventually. Would be great to see Oshawa's new arena, heard many good things about it. The Spits new home the WFCU center is beautiful also, seats just over 6000. It is an exact duplicate of Joe Louis arena's lower bowl.
