Mario99
Hartnell, Giroux, Voracek but after that no proven scorer on the wing, im talking 40 goal scorewe cant take last years stats because of short season i hope Jake comes thru big again this year but its a full 82 gamees second line is Simmonds, Vinny, Schenn third line Talbot, Couturier, Read fourth line McGinn, Hall, Rinaldo dont like thjis chemistry Flyers are getting like Phillies draft a player at one position and move him to a different spot (see Darin Ruf, playing RF,LF,1st) Couturier playing with Talbot SMH talk about hurting his growth, Coots needs to play with fast players, playmakers Read is ok but not Max Schenn drafted 5th overall as a center not LW please stop the nonsense is there a proven 40 goal scorer on the wings on any of these lines, no and we will need scorers because defensmen stink and Goalies unproven
DaGreatGazoo
Schenn is a full time LW this year...Vinnie signing mandated that. We'll see how he does playing there all year. As always, they have too many centers, and that gets worse if Laughton makes the team.
radoran
Are you OK with them playing Giroux, drafted as a RW in 2006, as a C?
Mario99
Rad, Giroux can play anywhere hes great player
radoran
Rad, Giroux can play anywhere hes great player He made his name in the Q as a playmaking wing somewhat along the lines of Peter Forsberg. Naturally, with two young centers already on the roster, the team decided he had to be a center. If you can get that creativity on a line out of a wing, it really shakes up the traditional defensive structures. I would hope they would try Giroux on VLC's wing, but that's IMO just simply not going to be allowed to happen.
doom88
Carchidi is an idiot, and Lavy juggles lines. I wouldn't take a thing from that.
aziz
dont like thjis chemistry Flyers are getting like Phillies draft a player at one position and move him to a different spot (see Darin Ruf, playing RF,LF,1st)still can't see how this is a big deal. moving a winger to defense, yeah, that's a whole other ballgame, but a center to wing? the only difference is the guy won't take as many draws. this isn't 1981 when a LW stayed on the left side all the time, with modern offenses, the only change a roster card position switch makes is where a dude lines up on faceoffs. a LW will be in the middle of the ice and on the right side of the ice and, yes, on the left side sometimes, too. just like a center, just like a RW. crossing breakouts and cycle offences means everyone is on their offwing as often as not. makes no difference at all. Couturier playing with Talbot SMH talk about hurting his growth, Coots needs to play with fast players, playmakers Read is ok but not Maxcouturier cannot play with fast players, because he cannot keep up. he has to play on a dump and chase or possession line. he slows a fast break line down to the point of defeating the purpose. plus, as i've said before, his foot speed means his freedom to get involved deep in the offensive zone is limited. until he can show that he has better acceleration than a toyota prius, he is, imo, a defense-only player. that being the case, this is the only line that makes sense. is there a proven 40 goal scorer on the wings on any of these lines, nodo you know how many 40 goal scorers there were in the league in the last full season (11-12)? 4. season before that? 5. before that? 7. or what about 23 goal scorers (same goals/gm over 48 games as over 82) from last season? 7. the flyers haven't had a single guy reach that threshold since carter did it in 08-09. before that was gagne on either side of the 04-05 lockout. and now you want multiple lines to have players at that level?80% of the league has no one scoring at that pace at all, and no one but pittsburgh has that kind of firepower on two lines. TarHeelFlyer
With the 11 guys we currently have on the roster, I'm not sure who you change up and make us better. Personally, I am hoping Vinnie has the same effect on Schenn that Jagr had on Giroux and Giroux has had on Voracek.
jammer2
How the lines are constructed will be directly linked to our success at the start of the year. A few losses to start the year and everything will be turned upside down, cause Lavi knows he will go if we come out of the gates slow and uninspired. Flyskippy
I don't like any of the lines of text Sam writes, either -- oh.
