pilldoc
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/flyers/Flyers-send-Morin-back-to-junior.html Can't say I'm surprised, however from the rave reviews I have been reading about him, I thought he would stick around for a couple more pre-season games. It was a long shot for him to make the club this year anyhow. From what little I did see of him, I really really like. This kid as a very bright future ahead of him. One day after earning his first big league contract, the Flyers decided to send first round pick Samuel Morin back to his junior team in Quebec. Morin, 18, announced on his Twitter account that he will report back to the Quebec Leauge’s Rimouski Oceanic – the same franchise that produced Sidney Crosby. His contract with the Flyers will slide until at least 2014-15.Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/frequentflyers/Flyers-send-Morin-back-to-junior.html#LJ5G0S0Y5KW3lLOS.99One day after earning his first big league contract, the Flyers decided to send first round pick Samuel Morin back to his junior team in Quebec. flyercanuck
@pilldoc I just posted in his contract thread that he may not be ready for real NHL action. Another year of junior certainly won't hurt him. Good move IMO.
pilldoc
@flyercanuck certainly agree with you FC. I just figured a few more pre-season games wouln't hurt. Give him some idea where he needs to improve.
Claude Monet
It is probably a case of the Flyers giving ice time to players that actually have a shot at the 7th spot. There is a lot of competition on the blue line right now and we all know how the injury bug is around here. Morin was never going to crack the top 6 this year.
AJgoal
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised that they sent him back at this point, but with the "team building" coming up it makes a bit of sense. Would have liked to see him get the full TC. I think next year he'll get a 10-game look, though.

radoran
Pinnocchio pointed out that the Flyers have another week off between preseason games, which is likely why some guys were sent packing - no need for them to hang around here. Popular Post JR Ewing
It's all been good for Morin. He was able to spend some extra time with Ian Lapperiere, attend his first pro camp, get some instruction from (likely) the best coaches he's ever had, get a fitness assessment which lets him know where he needs to do extra work. All of this gave him the chance to see what kind of work rate is required and will better prepare him for the next few years, when he'll have a better chance to make the team. And to top it off, he was sent off with a shiny new entry-level contract for his efforts. Good few weeks for him. Absolutely the right move for Flyers management, who had very little to gain in playing him, and a lot to lose. JR
EDI-Flyer
Absolutely the right move for Flyers management, who had very little to gain in playing him, and a lot to lose Spot on. This is the right move for the kid's future, no point in trying to rush things. Go back and really dominate this year in the Q and next year at training camp may be a whole different story...
King Knut
Agreed. They have some tougher decisions to make and need to see guys playing in order to make them. It is probably a case of the Flyers giving ice time to players that actually have a shot at the 7th spot. There is a lot of competition on the blue line right now and we all know how the injury bug is around here.
