hf101
Is this the same group that analyzed the top 100 NHL forwards... missing Bobby Ryan from the list? I do have to say though some credit is due to Mario for rebuilding the franchise.

No Black Hawks? Bruins? How does that make any sense? Anaheim? Nice list. LOL My guess how ESPN picked it. Ok, I've heard of Crosby, find out which team he's on and they make the list. We need a Canadian team on there cause it's hockey, what's the captital of Canada? Toronto. No it's Ottawa. Is that right? OK, the Sens. And a third hockey team, what was that movie?
Bertmega
ESPN for the hockey world = Exceptionally Stupid People's New-source They must have clearly forgotten about this gem that they wrote a few years back: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2718534 However, in their defense there is this: http://www.hockeycentral.co.uk/penguins/records/Penguins-Records.php Attendance appears to no longer be a problem, but lest we forget their not so long ago troubled past? flyercanuck
@Bertmega I don't have a problem with ESPN picking Pittsburgh. The problem I have is with ESPN picking Pittsburgh.
Bertmega
@flyercanuck Any other news outlet would hold more credibility. Hell if CNN or Al Jazeera picked the Penguins, I would be a little more comfortable with it. I even looked beyond Pittsburgh and thought to myself, Memphis has a basketball team? Who knew? flyercanuck
@Bertmega The Grizzlies of course. Not sure if Grizzly bears are more famous in Tennesse, jazz in Utah or is California more famous for it's abundance of lakes? The franchises they picked for the most part aren't exactly the ones that come to mind as tops in the sporting world.
mojo1917
I am surprised that neither Seattle team is in the top 10, that is a great sports town with 2 fine venues, maybe the ticket prices are too expensive ? the list seems a little dubious to me. Very self serving having half the list populated by NBA teams, kind of hard to take much of what they report outside of their self serving interests seriously, The sports leagues they have contracts with they report satisfactorily. iban3z
Every year, they're picked to win it all and they have a good team, but they're not as good and haven't been as good as the 2009 team. They're getting older, more injuries are happening and people have figured out Bylsma's system.

Though they have managed an exciting on ice product in recent years as well.
