B21
40 minutes of some pretty awful play by the Pens followed by one of the most dominating periods of hockey I've seen in a long time. No shots for the Leafs in the 3rd or OT. No shots. Good thing to0 because Zatkoff was shaky (to be expected).
yave1964
I didn't watch much of the game with the Wings on but the ticker just kept showing goal after goal. Really? Not a single shot? Wow, and with Martin out to boot. That would have been a fun one to watch, sorry I missed it.
flyercanuck
The Pens played 2 periods of horrible hockey. The Leafs played 2 periods of horrible hockey. How you don't register a single shot when the other team has to open up the game to try and come back is unfathomable. The refs even stunk.(does Malkin actually turn invisible when he does this stuff?) It's hard to believe Carlysle is coaching the Leafs, the way they play. If it wasn't for Reimer and Bernier standing on their heads most games Nonis would already be trying to decide on Reinhart or Ekblad. nossagog
Jeckel and Hyde team. Right now the defense is mixed up from the adustments going on and the switching of pairings. I hope that the Pens can survive without Martin and Scuds, or at least settle things down and get used to the new pairings. Letang at the moment is playing absolutely like he's the worst defenseman on the team. His decision making is absolutely horrendous. If I'm a coach of an opposing team, simply pressure him. With what I believe the Pens have with Despres and Matta being the core of the next waive of defense, I'd be willing to talk trade to find a scoring winger for Crosby instead of making him play his complete career with two grinders. Think what they could get for Tanger's salary. The Pens played 2 periods of horrible hockey. The Leafs played 2 periods of horrible hockey. How you don't register a single shot when the other team has to open up the game to try and come back is unfathomable. The refs even stunk.(does Malkin actually turn invisible when he does this stuff?) As for Malkin's goal(I'm guessing that's what you are talking about), both that and the waived off goal were both pretty hard calls for the ref. In the goal case, there was also a Leaf taking another Pen into Reimer, which is what the ref probably felt caused Reimer's movement. If they had waived it off, I would not have complained at all. Earlier, they waived off a goal in the second that could have gone either way. Malkin had obviously touch the puck with a high stick, but the puck then went off of Reimer, and behind him with Sutter and a Leaf player jabbing for it. You couldn't see whether or not either of them had knocked it in because of Reimer's pads from the views I saw. So with the call on the ice being a goal(and they took a loooong time to review it), I thought that it might stand because they could not tell whether it went in due to Malkin's deflection with the high stick or whether anyone else had knocked it in. But again, either way it was called, you couldn't complain.
jammer2
When you lose a game that you lead 4-1, your team is a mess. Combine that travesty with the 6-0 drubbing of the Leafs by the Blue Jackets, you have a team in total disarray!! Jake Gardiner was HORRIBLE in the Jackets game, coughing up the puck twice in his own end that lead directly to 2 Columbus goals...thus his healthy scratch status for the Pens game.
