mojo1917
Wow... After watching the Wild skate circles around the Flyers for 60 minutes , I wonder what the hell happened? 2 years ago this team was among the faster teams in the league. Zolnyrczuck JVR and Wellwood aren't around I know , but damn that was embarrassing, I don't even know if I can make the "no effort, lazy, stupid "excuses after watching that. That games result was certainly just; Razor played pretty well, but it was disheartening to see how much faster Minnesota was . That game makes me feel as though a big , big roster shake up needs to happen. Where are the Flyers better than any other team ? Size ? Hockey IQ ? Puck possession ? Shooters ? Man they are average. ruxpin
The Flyers have traded away quite a bit of their team speed. And we still lack a first line winger. But a lot of what you saw tonight in terms of difference in speed and execution-- and you're about to see a bit more of it against Dallas and especially Chicago -- is a playoff Western conference team against a non-playoff eastern conference team. They're just simply better out west.
doom88
That's what happens when a team doesn't skate. Standing around makes for easy defending, and makes other teams look faster.Plus, the Flyers can't receive a pass, win a puck battle against the boards, nor figure out the second part of a dump and chase. ruxpin
nor figure out the second part of a dump and chase. Well, they had the taking the dump part down pretty well.
hf101
I just think the Wild were the more desperate team this evening at home. They hadn't won in 4 games losing to the Yotes, Blues and 2 to the Aves.

yave1964
The Wild are one of the fastest transition clubs in the game, they have a solid bunch of first passing blue liners, their forwards are north south players with a nose for the net. no nonsense, no wasting too much extra time skating where the puck is not. you have to give credit where it is due, speed and being opportunistic is there game. you have to give credit where it is due, when the wild are playing their game they are awfully tough. they played their game tonight. the flyers just could not keep up.

flyerrod
I just think the Wild were the more desperate team this evening at home. The Wild were skating like men possessed and absolutely outplayed and earned the win. Too many stretch passes again and too much standing around trying to let the puck come to them for the Flyers. It also gets very difficult to do a dump in when the other team is allowed ignore the puck and tie the player up when he is trying to retrieve the puck. To their credit, the refs did not call penalties on ANY of the dives for calls performed by Matt Cooke/Mitchell or even Giroux. They really need to start calling the unsportsman like penalty on the divers. They are flat out embarrassing to watch and when I see players doing it (even Flyers) it annoys the crap out of me. off_the_post
The Flyers are not a .500 club based on what I have seen. Sure they can look good at times but last night they were fighting up a weight class.

fan4ever
@brelic Got this from the Urban Dictionary... Acronym for 'shake my head' or 'shaking my head.' Usually used when someone finds something so stupid, no words can do it justice. Which makes more sense considering some moves the Flyers make....
mojo1917
@brelicsee at @fan4ever 's post shaking my head. I posted that also recognizing that i've been a guy who's been able to be patient with our youngsters. You can't teach speed, or size those are things that you "have" and i know that hockey teams can be "quick" without actually being "fast" .Last night, every pass to open the ice seemed to hit a Wild stick, Minnesota's players appeared to be every where, some of that is system but i felt as though much of what i was seeing was "speed" .Brayden Schenn is not "slow" per se but when he's on a team where he's one ot the "faster" guys that doesn't seem to bode well for the team's prospects regarding speed. In terms of roster moves do you as GM deal the slower veterans (provided they waive their NMC) and continue to build around the core of Giroux, Couturier and Schenn ? is that core of centerman good enough to overcome the lack of speed around them ? The Flyers looked really slow, weak on the puck and kind of dumb vs the Wild ? Chief has a tough job trying to get this group to think more quickly, which is needed. A strong forechecking team makes our guys look beer leauge.

radoran
I always heard it was "Smack My Head" - like with the palm of the hand to the forehead. "Shake" works, too, though...

ruxpin
I'm not sure I'm onboard with all of the accolades for the Wild. If they play like they did last night they're going to get their ### handed to them by most western conference teams. I actually thought it was one of the more utterly boring games I've seen in awhile--which says a lot since I watch a lot of Flyers' games. The Wild were average at best and the Flyers were the Washington Generals. If the Wild were actually any good that would have been a slaughter.

Their passes were on the money and their skating second to none last night. There is a reason Parise has so many points against the Flyers....he is that freakin' good. THAT IS WHY HOLMGREN TRIED TO SIGN HIM!

THAT IS WHY HOLMGREN TRIED TO SIGN HIM! It's not Flyer hate, it's ...not trying to put this in an insulting way...watching what I'm seeing. Skating second to none? What kind of drugs are you on? (and don't bogart it all. Share, damn it). Again, if what you are saying were true, it would have been a blow out. It wasn't for two reasons: 1) Emery did a pretty good job of playing by himself and 2) The Wild were NOT on last night. It's pretty easy--well, easIER--to have your passes on the money when no one is challenging the pass and when the opponent is playing against itself. It was an epically boring game played by both teams. The Wild really weren't that good last night, even by Wild standards. They'd have been crushed by every playoff team in the West unless Harding was really on (We'll never know whether he was since he really didn't have to break a sweat). This isn't Flyer hate. It's life without orange glasses.

Must be a meme of some sort, no? haha, reminds me of the early days here on this board when I was agreeing with a point you had made and all I wrote was "QFT" you thought I meant "Quit ******* Talking", where I really meant "Quoted For Truth". obviously a vast difference in the two interpretations
