King Knut
They did well in stopping the bleeding and them tuening the tide. Too bad those dang Devils keep racking up OTL's. We win them we lose, thy keep losing in OT. Both teams stay at .500. Oh well. Would be nice to see our boys string a few together again. Tonight was an impressive rally. Traded the usual bad third for a bad 2nd. Worked out better I guess. The redwings fell apart, they were playing a bit choppy all noght, guess their own penalizes caught up with them. doom88
OTL should be treated as a regular L, zero points. I'd like the only consideration given be for playoff tie breakers, after points overall / wins.

King Knut
I don't love the idea of 3pts for a win, but it's starting to look like the most fair. I do think its unfair to give zero points for a shoot out loss because shoot outs are a ridiculous way to decide things and I don't think it's right to screw a team out of a point because they lost at a carnival side show game. No argument there.
jackhole
3 pts regulation win, 2 pts overtime/shootout win, 1 pt overtime/shootout loss. That way 3 points get handed out for each game no matter what, where it is 2 or 3 right now, and skews the standings, you know.

King Knut
I'm sorry, agreeing with your dislike of the shoot out was meant to be inherent in my statement. Just a given. Like an understood "you". 3 point for a win2 points for an overtime win1 point for an overtime lossSeems fair, but if there's no shoot out, how do you ultimately decide games that are tied after OT. You can't have endless sudden death all year, it's too brutal. I'd personally assume that giving them 10 minute OTs to even a full period would help, but what to do I that doesn't work!I heard the proposal of removing an additional player every five minutes... But that seems as muh a gimmick as the shoot out to me. Were ties really so bad after all?Maybe if they earned them by playing a few more minutes of OT I could buy it. The statement was to get rid of the shootout all together. 3 point wins in regulation is the next best thing.

I didn't mind ties, but casual fans aren't satisfied with them.
Phlyer1
No compromises the Shoot out should go. Has there been a legitimate study on the affect it has on the standings or it is just for the non purists of the game?
King Knut
Non purists or fans of the international competition that has use the format for many years as it mimics futbol. OccamsRazor
I heard the proposal of removing an additional player every five minutes So that would be an interesting shootout just the goalies left taking turns shooting on each other for the game winner..........i love it! Phlyer1
Flyers vs Rangers ring a bell???That was an unusual season right up to the end. There is always the exception to the rule but not as often as one might think.
radoran
Eliminate the Neilson rule and let coaches put a D man out instead of the goalie

Winner goes, loser watches from the couch.
