Pens' Stadium Series Unis

@B21  I hate when teams go outside of their primary colours for the new jersey's....I realize they had these colours (roughly) when Mario played, but nothing can top those old light blue jersey's with the Penguin in the round circle. They should never stray far from that classic look IMHO.

Not a Pens fan.....not by a LONG shot.... :)

However...I must say, these unis look pretty sharp. I like that raised, almost metallic look to the logo.

And I know some like the powder blue, but as long as I have known the Pens (mid 90's) they've always been subdued gold n black, so I am good with that color scheme.

I do like THIS Pens logo better (and probably in the minority), NHL98_penguins_locke_gb7.jpg

but still, the unis are nice.

I think the black blocking on the shoulder looks kind of Bruins-ish.

I do like the stripes on the sleeves but do not like the the continuation of it as a piping element at the bottom of the sweater because of the triangular cut on the sides.

I would like them more if they didn't smack of the B's sweater

I agree with @jammer2  the powder blue is such a good look why not make a variation off that, do a white "road " inverse version of the blue sweater ?

i bet those sweaters sell pretty well though.  the gold, black and white is a great color scheme i do like as @TropicalFruitGirl26 says the muted gold, it has a classy look.

Really?  That might be one of the worst logos ever.

@jammer2

I do like the baby blues but every other team here is black and gold. I like the continuity. ;)

@mojo1917

Funny - I had the exact same reaction....kinda Bruin-ish. The gold vs. Bruin yellow helps.  Still - I like the more classic look with strips on the arms and at the bottom of the sweater.

Well, I DID say I was in the minority, as I have heard many fans (mostly Pens fans) say that....but I stand by it...I think the logo is less 'cartoony' than the current logo, and I just never did go for the cartoony type logos for ANY pro team in any sport...just my tastes on what logos should or shouldn't be.

And worst EVER? You, sir, exaggerate... ;)

For the most part, I agree on "cartoonish" logos except for colleges.  But some pro sports teams can pull it off. Pens. Orioles. Panthers. Predators.

Long time Orioles fan... I hated the orinthologically correct Orioles logo.  It was , dumb, they lost all  the ******* time with it, it was crap. it wasn't even original, it was a ripoff of the toronto blue jays logo... i hated that thing so badly, i never bought a hat, i have them because people would buy them for me but i was never  like great , oh i've been so wanting one of these.

I much prefer the skating penguin to the emperor penguin.

 A bit off topic, but it's a weird thing with baseball hats. They go beyond the sport, and actually symbolize what geographic location you belong to...much like *everyone* in Missouri wearing the familiar Cards hat with their classic logo. Another prime example is the Detroit D. Almost everyone in Michigan wears one, because Michigan only has one MLB team. Sure it stands for Detroit, but the impact of the old D goes Michigan wide.....and even leaks into Southen Ontario, 75% of the baseball hats you see in the Windsor/London region are Tigers hats.

 Pretty cool history of the O's and different hats/patches etc...
