steve7311
He would have gotten a slap on the wrist or a i game suspension. I think the only reason he got 15 games was because they were playing the Pens. This goes to show you don't mess with Bettman's favorite team. I also think this is why 95 percent of true hockey fans hate the Penguins.

steve7311
You do realize that the league helped you guys get out of bankruptcy. If they didn't help the pens would be in Portland Oregon. And why would they have to file bankruptcy because the fan base in Pissburgh only pulls for the team when they are winning.
pilldoc
Spoken like the true stereotypical Flyers fan that gives the ones that actually know hockey a bad name. I wouldn't worry about him Polaris. He only has 14 posts in 2 yrs. Sadly you will always have fans from every fan base that are just plain clueless. You know many of us who bleed O&B sided with you guys and stated that what Thornton did was an atrocity. I called 15-20 games from the get go. I say put the above poster on ignore and move on. You know too many of us on here who don't think like that. Stay safe in this weather.....

Polaris922
@pilldoc Thanks bud... you are always in the core of Flyers fans here I'm referring t o when I say knowledgeable Flyers fans who break that very stereotype. Your comments are appreciated. I just feel a need to defend my team against the stupidity. I know it's sometimes a flaw, but I've spent my life fighting for what I believe in, and people like that are often on the receiving end of that effort. Thanks again!.. Polaris922
@ruxpin You actually support that BS? I'm surprised... that's not like you. You seriously think a Pens player would skate away from that without incident? Funny.. Neal didn't.

Go back to smoking whatever it is you have apparently spent a lifetime corrupting your brain cells with. Please feel free to support your ignorant words with facts rather than your misguided opinion. I'd love to hear how it was the NHL's money, not Lemieux's work that saved the Pens. Feel free to stun me with your intelligent commentary on how the NHL bailed them out of bankruptcy while giving ZERO dollars or forgiveness to them. Please tell me again how they'd have gone to Portland Oregon without Bettman's inteference? Or how the fan base only pulls for them when they're winning when there has been a diehard fanbase since the inception of the team? Regardless of some near record breaking lows. Do we have six million in our city lining up to see Snider's inherited money fall short for 38 years? No... but for a city of less than 1 million... we seem to have a pretty good sellout streak going. What would the Flyers sellout streak be at currently?? Yeah I've learned through the years a lot of people who know next to nothing about a sport like to try arguing current events by bringing up irrelevant opinions or even facts about past events... but at least have the ability to support your arguments WITHOUT it being pure biased opinion. goalnut3133
Total absurdity (hey, how did Kuato get in here?? )...I say cuff 'em & thrown him in the paddy wagon @Polaris922! It's too bad there aren't more 'real' hockey fans out there, & not just the type that love to hate other teams just for the sake of hating, instead of appreciating skilled players/teams....(& unfortunately, I speak of many Nucks fans as well who do the same). PS-- I say cuff @ruxpin too while you're at it! He's a poop disturber! (Tho' 1 of my fave poop disturbers here! heh heh )

hf101
@steve7311 If Thornton were a Penguin he'd probably receive a permanent ban from their organization for taking down a teammate during a game. It might be entertaining, but Thornton wouldn't play another game in the NHL.

Speaking of the league handing out awards, didn't the same NHL "award" the Flyers Eric Lindros? Of course - we know how that turned out for the organizations involved. Isn't it amazing how the "loser" won the Stanley Cup, and the "winner" won a decade of headaches (dual reference to concussions a purely accidental but entertaining coincidence)

ihabs1993
That's bogus. Thornton got 15 games because he's a hockey player. What he did embarrassed the game as well as his team. That explanation carries absolutely no water. WITH THAT BEING SAID, I think Neal got off very lightly with his clear cheap shot at Marchand. I hate Marchand more than the next guy, but Neal should have gotten 7 for what he did. Repeat offender, intent to injure, complete disregard for the head of his opponent... That's more than I can say about the Thornton incident. League got the Thornton one right, missed on the Neal play
