murraycraven
Well folks... For all the haters Cooter is the best player on the team. I am not on drugs or alcohol... He is the best player in this team. (not a goalie)
flyerrod
Does this mean you have stepped back from the ledge.....did you bring caluso and gazoo with you? Cooter has been the Best player on this team since he was paired with Downie and Read. Nice to see Giroux developing some chemistry with Raffl and Jake. Raffl's addition to that line seems to have helped both Roo and Jake. I hope he can keep it up. Edited December 18, 2013 by flyerrod

He is the best player in this team. (not a goalie) I guess I haven't said it, but I've been thinking it for a while now. I'll tell everyone what I did say, during Cooters rookie year, either here or philly.com I said I thought he could wind up better than Giroux. Still think that. fan4ever
I'm also very impressed with his attitude. He shines in the interviews that he does. I think this kid is coming into his own!!!!!!
flyercanuck
This guy is growing leaps and bounds every game. Who would have thought that a 21 year old wasn't done developing? Who would have thought some players just need a little patience? Now let's just hope his development doesn't include the Flyer longterm contract lackadaisicality.
off_the_post
I had thought his foot speed and lack of explosive first stride would ultimately be his down fall. I have compared him to Handzus with better hands. His play has improved a lot once pair with Reid and Downie who I think deserve some kudos. Of the two young centers I now think B. Schenn is the more expendable and Coots has been impressive. Coots skating seems much better this year but I still don't think it is an asset just yet. TarHeelFlyer
Couts led the team in TOI last night with 23:33. The next closest player was Coburn with 22:13.
King Knut
Sorry, I've been showering the Coots love all season, so I've got your back, but Giroux is still the best position player on the team. Despite all the hate on both and Giroux not scoring like Gretzky this year, they are the top two performers. And I was saying that before coots was scoring goals. They both see the ice extremely well. Well folks... For all the haters Cooter is the best player on the team. I am not on drugs or alcohol... He is the best player in this team. murraycraven
It is really fun watching this kid right now... He plays so well w/out the puck that when he is on the ice I just watch him and not the puck. I will give Berube all the props in the world for having a lot of confidence in this kid. DaGreatGazoo
did you bring caluso and gazoo with you? What ledge? I've never hated on Cooter, and his line as been the best on the team since Downie was brought in. I was concerned when he regressed badly last year, but he has played well this season. I still don't think this is a very good team. There are too many holes, on too many lines right now. I also think they could miss the playoffs, simply due to format. They top 3 in each division go(6 teams) and 2 wildcards. I'm not convinced the Metro will put any Wild Card teams in the post season. Yes, the Flyers are 1 point out of 3rd right now; but they are also 3 points from 2nd to last in their division. To me, that's about where they belong, right in the middle of the pack. I'm not sure that's good enough to make the playoffs. Hope they do, but am not sure right now.

The Quigster
Cooter the best on the team? The best what? Definitely not the best shoot-out guy! Long winded? I agree!

There you go looking the wrong way again........ All kidding aside, did you get to watch the game last night? All of those mediocre players OWNED the Capitals for 60 minutes. Ovechkin/Backstrom/Green and the rest of the caps. The Flyers have the skills to do it is and will always be my point. They just need to do it consistently for 60 minutes a night every night. When they do that, they will go far....and I am talking about with this current roster.
Podein25
Cooter certainly has the best nickname on the team. I've hardly watched the flyers this year, but am not surprised that Cooter is one of the players that is starting to stand out. Is his skating actually improved though? When they do that, they will go far....and I am talking about with this current roster.I literally saw from the Schenn hit until the end of the game--kids had hockey. At the time of the Schenn hit, it was 2-2. I can't comment on the game before that, didn't' see it. The major changed the game, as it should have. Flyers needed to respond to that it. And the did. It was a very solid win. I HATED the Berube hire. I can't stress that enough. I hated, hated, hated it. That being said, I appear to have been wrong. I like what this team has done under him. I think he has the foundations of being a very good coach at this level. I am REALLLLYYY not trying to be one of those Flyers fans. But this team got SMOKED by Dallas, lost a shootout to Ottawa, and blew a 3 goal lead, in 3 of their last 6 games. IMO, that's not the sign of a good team. They are inconsistent, struggle against quality teams, and again, IMO, don't have the talent to compete with the top teams in either conference. I don't think that makes me a bad fan. Not saying you called me one. I watch every game I can, I root for them with all I can, I yell/bitch/swear like the rest of us, and I will be on Broad Street the next time they win a Cup. I just don't think it will be next June.

flyerrod
@DaGreatGazoo Berube (IMO) has been adjusting this team to fit his idea of how they should be playing and doing a pretty damn solid job at it. How many people here thought Raffl was a top line guy? I know I didn't but Berube saw it in his play and adjusted accordingly. Hartnell's play has improved with him on with Simmer and Schenn but I still see him getting bumped to the 4th line when Vinny returns. The defense is still the weakest point and even their play is starting to improve(Streit especially). Gus and Schenn are the worst d-men on the team (Gus being the worst) but even they are showing improvement.
off_the_post
Is his skating actually improved though?IMHO I think it has. He certinaly looks stronger on his skates. I don't recall seeing a game (and I've watched them all this year) where his skating was a liability as I have noticed in prior years. I don't know how much more room for improvement there is but I really didn't think he had it in him and I was wrong.
