brelic
From CSN Phillyhttp://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/report-flyers-isles-trying-land-pacioretty Interesting, but makes no sense for Montreal. Isn't he their top scorer? Are the Flyers getting ready to make a deal? According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post (via ProHockeyTalk), the Flyers and New York Islanders are "taking serious runs" at acquiring Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty. Pacioretty, 25, leads the Canadiens in goals this season with 15 and has 19 points in 29 games. He has a cap-friendly deal that sees him earn $4.5 million per season through 2018-19. Brooks also mentioned that it would be unlikely for Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin to deal Pacioretty to an Eastern Conference club -- if he's willing to trade him at all after the roster freeze melts Friday. It makes sense that teams would inquire about Pacioretty. His age, contract and offensive ability are all desirable traits, but it wouldn't make much sense for Montreal to deal him. The report didn't mention any players who could potentially be offered for Pacioretty.
Sin Bin
I really dont see this happening at all. The Canadians are in the hunt for the playoffs and MaxPax is a key player on there team.
Philly29
That would be an awesome pick up. He has had injury problems in the past and this season though hasn't he? Would that bring his value down some?
Polaris922
This is Holmgren we're talking about here. IF he manages to pull this off, it's going to cost you guys an arm and a leg... And a second round pick.
ruxpin
Brooks is an imbecile. I have no idea why the Habs would even consider trading him. Other teams, including the Flyers, probably did check on him, but that's as far as this is going. This article is simply slow day filler. blocker
Montreal is not trading away Pacioretty. Nor Suban.
murraycraven
I think this is nothing more than an Eklund type rumor... No way this makes sense for the Habs.
flyercanuck
I could see Montreal dealing him.....for Simmonds and Morin. No thanks.
mojo1917
I don't get this, they're playing pretty well, he's been pretty good...it's not like this is a small market that can't afford to pay him. Seems weird to me.If you're a responsible NHL gm and you hear this I think you at least see what MTL is thinking, it is probably not in line with what you'd want to give up, but heck, i'd call them up and see what's what. radoran
No doubt Montreal would like Hartnell to see if he can get Briere going again

brelic
Would you do the deal if it were Pacioretty and Beaulieu for Coots and Morin?
murraycraven
Would you do the deal if it were Pacioretty and Beaulieu for Coots and Morin? Interesting... I am not trading Cooter unless I am absolutely blown away by an offer.

mojo1917
Interesting... I am not trading Cooter unless I am absolutely blown away by an offer. uh , not interesting. the inclusion of Couturier ( to me )makes for a deal where more assets come our way than go out and they better be damn fine assets too. Funny how when you put 14 with guys that have some hands how much better he looks, i remember @JackStraw saying he'd thought he'd be the best player on the team in a couple of years when he was drafted. Jack is proving to be kreskin-esque ! when he plays with guys that are smart too all of his gifts can be realized. the vision , reach, he's only going to grow into his body and get stronger, if you're talking Seth Jones and a pick for Couturier ... i'll listen and i may even laugh and hang up. Kid is turning into a monster right before our eyes.
jammer2
From a Montreal perspective...there is no doubt Max is a gifted scorer....the only problem is, he goes cold for weeks at a time, and when he is not scoring he does not factor into the game much. Maybe the Canadians are searching for a bit more consistency....that's the only reason I can think of.
jammer2
From a fantasy perspective, Max is on the waiver wire every year at least 3-4 times (at least in the league I play in)....so, here we have a 30 goal scorer dropped multiple times, why is that?? The answer is....he scores like gangbusters for 10 games or so, then goes cold...about 7-9 games into this coldsnap, the owners get frustrated, drops him....and then he goes on another tear and gets picked back up...same thing every year!! Philly29
Coots is no way involved in any trade....please Edited December 23, 2013 by Philly29

Haha, so true jammer. The same happens with Voracek. The guy is also very streaky and when he's not scoring, he takes up a valuable spot. OccamsRazor
Please God...NO! I agree HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However i like Max....and his contract for his age/production is reasonable....and to get rid of Hartnell's contract make it attractive...yet no way i include Morin in it...pass now if there is something else they'd be interested in i'd listen....Max is signed @4.5 5 more years after this one and he is 25. So the Flyers would get a younger winger in return but i just can't put Morin in the package... Bakanekimiwa
this is just journalistic fodder. the trade simply doesn't make sense for either side.. therefore there is about zero truth to it. but.. watch it happen anyway.
