TedZep
I know they are awarded by some local schmuck or schmucks, but is there absolutely no accountability? After the game against the Devils Brayden Schenn got the first star, which makes sense since he led all scores with 2 pts and got the game winner. Michael Ryder getting the second star makes sense since he scored the late tying (shortie too, dammit!) goal and earned the home team a point. However, to pick the losing goaltender and his 89% saves percentage for the third star over the winning goalie (94%) smacks of unsupportable homer bias. On the other hand, Emery did "earn" the third star for whipping the crap out of Brayden Holtby and getting ejected back in November, so I guess there is no real rhyme nor reason. radoran
I have a hard time taking the "three stars" seriously - simply because they are given out with no consistency or even guidelines and they are given out, generally, by a member of the hometown media. At best, you can look at it as a statement that the Devils wouldn't have been even close to the Flyers without Brodeur. At worst, it's just another useless award* * see: Grammys
