Samifan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Local radio media here in WNY is reporting Enroth will get the start tonight for the Sabres. Hoping the Flyers come to play tonight! Quote
Poulin20 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 WGR550? I used to listen to that when I lived there. It was a tough listen when the Sabres were winning and beating the pants off of us...but oh how I enjoyed the whining and crying when Carolina beat the Sabres and then the Sens the next year. In all fairness I do remeber "The Bulldog" saying that it was not good for the Flyers to suck as it was much more fun when we were good and the games were competitive. Quote
Samifan Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 I am in Rochester so WHAM1280 does the local sports news. This is a great year to be a Flyers fan living in WNY! After all of the harassment I have taken for many years because I dont cheer for the "local" Sabres. Sabres fans have been silent this season. Quote

Oh thats right you did tell me that when we were speaking about WNY in the past. I went to UR before going to grad school at UB. I have to say I miss those Garbage Plates from Nick Tahou's!! Yeah this is a golden age right now for you living there as they suck and cant say anything bad about us. One of my favorite WNY moments recently was back a few years ago when we eliminated the Sabres and Briere tapped Miller on the back of the head after scoring on him. I was back visiting Buffalo and wore a Flyers T shirt with Birere on the back and got so many middle fingers from passing cars and vocal "F*** yous" from people walking up and down the street. It was wonderful after enduring some of the torture we had at the hands of the Sabres over the years. 1 Quote

My favorite part of living in Buffalo was getting the question "what's with the hat?" everywhere I went. The hat, of course, had the Flying P in brilliant orange and black Quote

I have been hearing that for 20 plus years in these parts. I have had my cars keyed because I have Flyers decals in windows. Its been great this year because I am helping coach my sons youth Bantam team and I only wear Flyer gear at practices, I get looks like I have three heads. Edited January 14, 2014 by Samifan Quote

I was somewhat surprised to find out that many Buffalonians are still butthurt after the French Connection loss in 1975. No, really. I did get to attend the "Wake for the Aud" as the final walls came down. Same year I also saw the Spectrum come down. Would really like there to still be a building that the Flyers won a Cup in, but I digress.... Check out #6 on this list from a friend who is/was a Sabres blogger http://willfulcaboose.wordpress.com/2009/10/06/6-things-4/ Quote
murraycraven Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 we can't lose to the Sabres can we? I have a feeling the Flyers are going to come out and trounce them tonight. I hope anyway... they need a good game after this past weekend. Quote
Samifan Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Wonder how junkie feels that his second coming of Christ isn't starting in net tonight? Quote

Irishjim Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Wonder how junkie feels that his second coming of Christ isn't starting in net tonight?they don't wanna lower his trade value since most times he plays the flyers he's chased mid 2nd period Quote
King Knut Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) I can't believe a Craig Berube coached team is losing because they're being outhit so badly. Three in a row here we come. How do you claw your way back from hockey hell to play like this? Edited January 15, 2014 by King Knut Quote
King Knut Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I can believe a chief coached team keeps shooting it into the goalie and taking terrible penalties though. God the Olympics are coming a few weeks too late. I can't believe a Craig Nerube coached team is losing because they're being outhit so badly. Three in a row here we come. How do you claw your way back from hockey hell to play like this? Quote

Samifan Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 I lost track of the number of errors and give aways Luke Schenn was involved in tonight. If Gus is healthy, time for Schenn to help Gill serve the popcorn! Quote
flyerrod Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I lost track of the number of errors and give aways Luke Schenn was involved in tonight. If Gus is healthy, time for Schenn to help Gill serve the popcorn! One of the reasons Schenn looks so bad is his being paired with Mez. Mez is continuously cheating down low and putting himself (defensively anyhow) out of position. That leaves Schenn with bad options which he continues to exercise with amazing alacrity. I am not giving him a pass but He could damn sure use some actual defensive help....which Mez is NOT providing.... Quote
brelic Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I only saw the highlights, but man, it looked like we should have lost that game based on the defensive breakdowns that left Sabres players wide open, and the crossbars/posts that were hit. Glad they won though Those are games they should, nay, must win. Quote

Podein25 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 If Gus is healthy, time for Schenn to help Gill serve the popcorn!Yes!! Gus should be pretty much ready to go. Prefer his foot speed and smarts to Schenn's stone feet and hands Quote
King Knut Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 For most of the game the flyers played better hockey, but the sabres played harder hockey and hit the crap out of our guys. Inevitably the flyers would start to get something going and them take an idiotic penalty because they were flat footed and got beat. This killed momentum more than gave the sabres good chances. The " save of the century" doesn't happen if Giroux shoots it straight or lifts it or puts any strength behind it. That said it only got close because a sabre tipped it. Shot straight that was getting stuffed in traffic or far mor easily swallowed up by the goalie. I only saw the highlights, but man, it looked like we should have lost that game based on the defensive breakdowns that left Sabres players wide open, and the crossbars/posts that were hit.Glad they won though Those are games they should, nay, must win.
