I Feel Bad For You To Have To Pay To Watch This. Someone Gave Me A Game Against The Preds On1/17 With Parking. The Seats Were 159.00 Per Ticket. I Wound Up Selling Them Both For 150.00 And It Wasn't Easy...

The ticket prices are outrageous anymore.  I remember a couple years back going to a Pens/Flyers playoff game and I got upper level tickets maybe 9th row on Stub Hub and paid more than face value.  Today that same seat is more in face value for a regular season game than I paid 2nd hand with markup for a playoff game.

Yeah it is not always easy to watch but we know that there are going to be up and down years (and games) going in. It is a risk we are willing to take when we plunk down the $$$. It cuts both ways because I have seen a lot of great stuff live and in person due to my STs too in addition to crap that I wish I had never seen. The important thing is that Nobody holds guns to our heads to buy or renew. We do it of our own volition, you don't need to feel bad for us. I know what you mean though when you say you feel bad I do appreciate your sentiments.

One other point to note is don't think that we the STHs pay full price for our tickets. Because we buy in bulk we get deep discounts. In my case I get 50% off the face value of all my tickets. Even thought my tickets are $90 seats and that is what is printed on my ticket, I only pay $45 a game.

Wow, that's cheap.  $90 each.

I went to the Flyers/Canucks game right before New Years.  We got a deal on our tickets through one of the local hotels, which included two tickets and the room for $450.  The face value of the tickets were $195 each.  The seats were in the lower bowl, in the corner by the red line, where Luongo defends twice.

Makes it hard to justify taking the family (5) to the good 'ole hockey game at those prices!

I'm not sure how much Season Tickets are in Vancouver, though, to compare to Philly.

I hear you about taking the family!

I essentially gave up trying to take my family to the Flyers b/c I could simply not afford to do so anymore.  My hockey ticket fund was replaced by Montessory School tuition for my daughter and paying a ridiculous amount of money for my son to play ice hockey and lacrosse.   I even Coached for nearly 10 years of hockey and the expense was brutal with travel and equipment costs for my son.

I think the corporate atmosphere (like all sports) has hindered the game in a way.  A large portion of the die hard fans are now proced out of the games.   To replace it I take my son to see ECHL, AHL and college games these days and it is still a blast.

It is a shame b/c there is nothing better than taking your child to see a game.   I only wish he was able to see a game at the old Spectrum when the walls would literally vibrate and you could see the intimidated look in some players eyes.  Still love the game as much as ever but the arenas today are suited for the suits.  The die hards that still pay for ST are a breed that should be commended b/c it takes a sacrifice to afford the tix.

Yes, I hear you about having to essentially give up trying to take the family. We have. My wife and I now just make the annual trip to Vancouver to watch the Flyers game only, which is usually around X-mas, so we make it a gift to ourselves.  At least now with the realignment we get to see them every year.

Yes, taking the kids to the game is a special event.  I still remember the very first time I walked out of the concourse and into the seating area, to see that great big open space, all the seats and the ice.  I remember it as surreal.  Its really a shame that is has become unaffordable to the average working family.

I can only imagine what it would have been like in the Spectrum.  My goal was to watch a game in there before they tore it down, but it never happened due to having young children.  Then in 2010, when we were thatclose to winning the Cup, I told my wife if the Flyers win, we are getting on a plane and going to the parade!!

Well, we all know how that turned out.

Ugh I hear you about Montessori school.  My son is there now and it is like paying for college. (It is a great school but man those prices!)  Which Montesorri school is it if I may ask?
