jammer2
I love comparing active players to retired ones and guessing where they might end up on the all time point list. Some huge milestones coming up in the near future.... Jagr currently sits at #7 all time sitting at 1736 pts. If he plays next year, he can pass a few greats.... Jagr needs 19 more points to pass Stevie Y for #6, he can't do it this year, but judging from his current play, he should be back for one more kick at the can. #5 is Marcel Dionne sits a mere 35 points away, very doable if he plays next year, he also has an outside shot at Ron Francis at #4....he also has a chance to become the 3rd player ever to join very exclusive 1800 points club. Temmu Selanne sits at #15 all time, since he has declared it's his last year, he should stay put in that slot, since #14 is Stan Mikita who is 17 points away....so Stan the Man is safe at #14. Joe Thornton sits at a very solid #48 at 1174 pts. He still has a lot of hockey left in him. If he plays 3-4 more years (looks likely at this point) he needs 224 points to move into the top 20 all time. Some of the all time greats Joe is set to pass in the upcoming years and points he needs to overtake that all time slot... 48) Joe Thornton 47) Sergi Federov needs 5 points to surpass him. 46) Rod Brindamour 10 points to pass 45)Dino Ciccarelli 24 pts needed 44)Vince Damphousse 31 pts needed ....I had no friggin idea Vince was so high on this list....wow. 43)Bernie Nicholls 35 pts needed 42) Bobby Clarke 36 pts needed....wow, has Bobby ever fallen, he was top 10 when he retired! 41) Larry Murphy 41 needed 40) Jeremy Roenick 41 needed 39) Jean Beliveau 45 pts needed 38) Norm Ullman 55 pts 37) Phil Housley 58 pts 36) Peter Stasney 65 pts 35) Jean Reattle 93 pts 34) Al McCinnis 100 pts 33) Alex Delvevecchio 107 pts 32) Gilbert Perreault 152 pts 31) Pierre Turgeon 153 pts 30) Mike Gartner 161 pts 29) Denis Savard 164 pts 28) Dave Anderchuck 164 pts 27) Mats Sundin 175 pts 26) Guy Lafleur 175 pts 25) Brendan Shanahan 180 pts 24) Johnny Bucyk 195 pts 23) Mike Modano 200 pts 22) Brett Hull 217 pts 21) Luc Robitelle 220 pts 20) Juri Kurri 224 pts Wow, those are some GREAT players that Jumbo Joe could potentially pass....#'s 25-20 are kinda iffy, he would have to play for more than 3-4 more years and average about 75 pts per year.....hard to say if it's doable. Regardless, Joe should be a first ballot HOF'er passing these awesome players listed! 2 other active players on the cusp of the top 50 all time are Jerome Iginla (51) and Daniel Alfredsson (52)but I don't think they have many big producing years left, they might move up into the top 45-40, but not much further.
