JackStraw Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/colleges/20140406_Hobey_Baker_award_to_be_presented_in_namesake_s_hometown.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobey_BakerI admit, I had no idea who Hobey Baker was, much less that he was a local guy and a standout in both hockey and football at Princeton. And he was a fighter pilot in WWI. He died in a crash during a test flight in France. Edited April 6, 2014 by JackStraw Quote
jammer2 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 @JackStraw hmmm, had no idea. Thanks for increasing my hockey knowledge, interesting stuff right there. Quote
AlaskaFlyerFan Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) I didn't know he was from Philly but I knew most of the other stuff. The Hobey Baker award ceremony will be in Philly this year. Wouldn't it be something if Ghost wins in the city that drafted him! Edited April 7, 2014 by AlaskaFlyerFan Quote

jammer2 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 @JackStraw Saw Gaudreau play one game this year, quite the skill set, outstanding skater. I have not seen the other 2 play, but if they beat out Johnny, they deserve it, cause that kid really impressed me. Quote

I haven't seen the other two either. Quote

I didn't know they narrowed it down to 3 finalists. I thought it was 5 or 6. Johnny Gaudreau is from South Jersey so it will be a home town boy (if he wins). That will be something special for him and his family. Quote

Not going to be that special after losing to Union today. He will win it, but what a special night it would be to win the championship and the HB on the same day. Quote
DaGreatGazoo Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 It's official...Gaudreau just won the Hobey Baker. Quote

Well the good thing is it almost seems to be a curse winning it you have to go all the way the back to Carle(06) to find someone who won it and actually did something at the next level....after that Ryan Miller(01).
